On Friday, we marked the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows with a beautiful Mass, shared together with our clients in a calm and reflective atmosphere. ✝️

As Holy Week begins, we make it a priority to organise meaningful religious moments that our clients are familiar with and have long cherished. These experiences help maintain a sense of continuity, comfort, and connection to faith and traditions.

This week at Casa Amalia, our clients continued preparing for Easter, with creative activities and small festive touches gradually coming together. 🐣🌸 It has been lovely to see everyone involved, each contributing in their own way as the season approaches.
On Tuesday, our clients also took part in a Malta Dementia Society Dancing for Dementia session. 💃🕺 Through music and movement, they explored different exercises and enjoyed a group activity together. Sessions like these support coordination, encourage self-expression, and create a positive, social environment. 💙

Last Saturday, we had the pleasure of welcoming The Allegra Accordion Group to Casa Amalia, and what a wonderful time it was! 🎶

They filled the space with the beautiful sounds of traditional Maltese instruments such as the accordion, iż-żafżafa, and it-tanbur. Our clients loved the performance, joining in with other traditional instruments, singing għana, and even dancing along. 🪇 It was a fun experience that brought everyone cheerfully together through our rich musical culture. 💛

"Ngħannqek jien minn taħt l-ilsien
qisu qatt, qatt m’għadda ż-żmien
jekk din xortija,
jekk din xortik
niftakarna jien għalik"

Il-kanzunetta “Niftakarna” ta’ Daniel Cauchi minn Mużika Mużika ta' din is-sena tolqot qrib ħafna tal-esperjenzi li naraw ta’ kuljum f’Casa Amalia 💛 Din il-kanzunetta titkellem dwar il-memorja, iż-żmien, u r-relazzjonijiet li jibqgħu jgħixu anke meta t-tifkiriet jibdew jitbiegħdu. Messaġġ sempliċi iżda qawwi: “Ma ġara xejn… niftakarna jien għalik.”
Fil-kura tad-dimensja, dawn il-kliem għandhom tifsira profonda. Meta xi ħadd jibda jinsa, ir-rabta, l-imħabba u l-preżenza jibqgħu hemm. U xi drabi, inkunu aħna li nżommu t-tifkiriet ħajjin għalihom. F’Casa Amalia nemmnu li kull mument jgħodd: kull tbissima, kull kelma, u kull ġest żgħir jagħmel differenza.💛

Casa Amalia was filled with joy and energy yesterday as we celebrated Intergenerational Day together with students from St Francis School. It was wonderful to see young students interact and engage with our clients, building meaningful memories among the two generations as they worked together on a craft project.

In the run up to this day, our clients worked to prepare activities for the students, creating simple resources and decorations to use during the session. Preparing for an activity builds purpose and gives them something meaningful to look forward to.

The day was even more special as Lucy got to celebrate her birthday surrounded by lots of happy faces and a very lively rendition of "Happy Birthday"! Happy birthday, Lucy! 🎂

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day so memorable 💛

Happy St. Paddy’s! ☘️💚
At Casa Amalia, our clients celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in a fun and colourful way. Everyone wore green and took part in preparing festive desserts using green and yellow fruits, jelly, and the delightful Maltese treat Il-Bambaluna. 🍌🍍🥝
Activities like these support creativity, encourage social interaction, and help maintain important daily living skills in a relaxed and engaging setting.

Everyone enjoyed tasting the desserts they prepared and spending time together in good company! ✨

Our clients spent some lovely time in the kitchen together with our carers preparing a a traditional fresh minestra, accompanied by small panninis with tomato paste, olives, and cheese. 🥖🍜
Activities like cooking are an important part of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). They help our clients maintain their independence, stimulate memory and motor skills, and provide a sense of purpose and achievement. Simple everyday tasks such as preparing food can also spark familiar memories, encourage social interaction, and support overall wellbeing. At Casa Amalia, we integrate these meaningful activities into daily life to keep our clients engaged, active, and connected. 💛

This week we celebrated pancake day with a delicious and healthy twist. With help from our carers, our clients prepared the batter and our carers plated them with blueberry, banana and yoghurt. 🫐🍌 They were a hit - everyone loved them! And the fact they were eaten in good company made them all the sweeter!🥞
