๐ŸŽƒ Gratin de Citrouille - Healthy & Comforting
Serves: 4๏ฟฝPrep time: 10 min | Cooking time: 30 min

๐Ÿฅฃ Ingredients:
* 600 g pumpkin (peeled and diced)
* 1 small onion, finely chopped
* 1 tbsp olive oil
* 1 tbsp flour
* 250 ml milk
* 50 g grated cheese (like parmesan or light cheddar)
* Fresh herbs (thyme or parsley)
* Salt & pepper to taste
* Optional: pinch of nutmeg๏ฟฝ

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ Method:
1. In a pan, sautรฉ the onion, add the pumpkin and cook until soft, then mash it lightly.
2. In another pan, add the olive oil and flour and mix well. Remote from heat, add the milk and mix continuously.
3. Return to heat, cook until it starts to thicken. Add the seasonings and cheese.
4. Put the mashed pumpkin in a baking dish and pour over the cheese sauce.
5. Sprinkle some more cheese and breadcrumbs on top.
6. Grill for 10 - 15 minutes until golden.๏ฟฝ

Pumpkin is rich in beta-carotene and fibre, making this dish both comforting and nourishing. Pair it with a green salad and a lean protein for a balanced meal.

๐Ÿง  The Dunning-Kruger Effect in Nutrition!!

Ever noticed how confidently some people give nutrition advice onlineโ€ฆ even when theyโ€™re not qualified? Thatโ€™s a classic example of the Dunning-Kruger effect when people with limited knowledge overestimate their expertise.

Sadly, this happens A LOT in nutrition. Social media is packed with catchy but inaccurate claims like:
๐Ÿฅ‘ 'Avocados are high in calories, so theyโ€™re bad for you.'
๐Ÿž 'Carbs are the enemy.'
๐Ÿญ 'Sugar is poison.'
๐Ÿ‹ 'Lemon water burns fat.'

These statements sound convincing, but theyโ€™re not backed by science. And because theyโ€™re often shared by influencers, fitness coaches, or self-proclaimed 'nutrition gurus', they spread faster than actual evidence-based advice.

As a registered dietitian, I can tell you we donโ€™t just wake up one day and decide to give nutrition advice. It takes a minimum of 4 years of university study in nutrition science, physiology, biochemistry, and medical nutrition therapy, followed by supervised clinical practice to earn that title. I personally spent 5 years at the university because yes, I have a certificate in Food Science also.

๐Ÿ“š Science isnโ€™t something you master in a 1- or 2-year course (or a personal fitness journey). Itโ€™s years of learning, critical thinking, and continuous professional development.

Before following any nutrition advice, ask yourself:
โœ… Is this person qualified to speak on this topic?
โœ… Is it evidence-based or just personal opinion?

Letโ€™s stop glorifying misinformation just because itโ€™s confidently said. Real expertise matters. ๐Ÿ’ฌโœจ
