Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition where the shoulder joint becomes stiff, painful, and difficult to move. It happens when the capsule — the connective tissue surrounding the shoulder joint — becomes thickened, tight, and inflamed, leading to restricted motion.
Normally, the shoulder joint has a loose capsule that allows free movement.
In frozen shoulder, inflammation causes this capsule to shrink and form scar tissue (adhesions).
As a result, movement becomes painful,
The shoulder gradually loses its range of motion,
And everyday activities like dressing or reaching overhead become difficult.
