World Heart Day in collaboration with Anchor Life MU such a great event! If you think heart health only matters to the elderly- think twice.

The pace of life is taking a toll on the younger people now- more heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure and sugar level among others. If you already have a condition such as PCOS, well unfortunately you are even more vulnerable.

Small changes such as swapping to Anchor life can make a whole difference ❤️

Insulin resistance happens when your body cells isnt able to utilise sugar as effectively as it should and unfortunately same comes with many side effects as observed in PCOS

- Extreme fatigue
- Limited ovulation or irregular me**es
- Poor sleep
- High sugar levels
- Acanthosis nigricans (darkened neck)

To help your body cope better, these are some of my key tips

✅ Include at least 25g protein per meal eg approx 80g chicken breast or 250g worth pulses
✅Choose low glycemic wholegrain carbohydrates eg quinoa, brown rice
✅ Muscle training is non negotiable
✅ Some specific supplements such as Ovasitol which is a 100% pure combo of inositol or Magnesium (type depends on person to person)

However do note that, though common, not all PCOS patients have insulin resistance. Others can be triggered by other factors

Irrespective of wanting to conceive a baby, Ovulation is key to a woman’s overal health, including mental & physical health.

Wondering if you ovulate, well start by tracking your cycle - manually or using an app. However don’t rely on their ovulation suggestion- our ovulation timing can vary from month to month depending on stress levels

My top suggestions for monitoring ovulation:

1. Watch out for egg white discharge
2. Monitor your body temperature using a basal body thermometer. (not your regular thermometer 🌡️) and be consistent! we need patterns! You can buy yours from if you need one
3. Monitor your libido- oh yes it will feel hot hot hot when you are close by 😏🔥

Please note Ovulation kits do NOT work for patients with PCOS. Do not waste your money 💰They can however be a good alternative for those with no PCOS.

Keep tuned for our next PCOS tip 🙂

Tip 1: Boost your progesterone levels, and drop many physical symptoms such as anxiety 😦

Progesterone is known as the happy hormone- making us feel our best 😏 Unfortunately when it comes to PCOS- many girls do not get their me**es regularly or they do but do not ovulate (yes this is possible too!)

No ovulation = your body produces limited progesterone and unfortunately can impact fertility chances as well 😔

Boost your progesterone and ovulation rates with the following:

1. Plenty of wholegrains such as brown rice or tricolour rice, ancient grains such as quinoa. I consider brown bread as useless in mru 🫢 unless you know where to get them from 😅

2. Sleep ladies. Do not underestimate the power of resting!

3. Go for regular walks- get in touch with nature!

Next post is knowing how to know you are ovulating 🙂 so keep tuned!
