Dr. Shaheel Sahebally graduated from Trinity College (University of Dublin) in 2008 with a first class honours in Surgery. He completed higher surgical training in General(and Colorectal) Surgery with RCSI before undertaking a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic colorectal surgery in Australia. Following that, he returned to Dublin to work as a consultant General and Colorectal surgeon for 4 years.
His main areas of general surgical practice include hernia, pilonidal disease, small bowel pathologies, appendix and gallbladder surgery as well as upper and lower GI endoscopy. His colorectal interests include colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, enterocutaneous fistula, proctology (including haemorrhoids, fistula and fissures) and restoration of intestinal continuity.
His practice includes mainly laparoscopic surgery which is associated with less pain, a shorter hospital stay and a quicker return to baseline function for the patient.
He also has a strong track record in research, having published several peer-reviewed manuscripts (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Shaheel-Sahebally?ev=hdr_xprf) and has won several international prizes in recognition of his work.
