When our children are having a hard time, there's often a number of drivers under the surface. One of the greatest things about the Hand In Hand Tool "Staylistening" is that we don't have to figure out what's going on. We can assist in the healing whether we know or not, even if they don't know themselves.

When the brain is in this state, reason and teaching really can't get through. So instead, we come in close and convey our warmth through our body language, perhaps facial expression and the occasional short phrase such as "I'm here..." or "It's so hard..."

This is what we call Staylistening. Staylistening allows our child/ren to release some of those stressors from under the surface and return to clearer thinking and the natural desire to collaborate.
