Exciting Innovation in Fracture Care :

Chinese researchers have introduced a breakthrough “bone glue” (Bone-02) that repairs complex fractures without the need for plates or screws. Inspired by oyster adhesion, this bioabsorbable glue bonds bone fragments in just minutes and dissolves naturally as healing progresses , removing the need for a second surgery.

Strength & Limitations
• In lab tests, Bone-02 showed bonding force over 400 pounds, shear strength ≈ 0.5 MPa, and compressive strength ≈ 10 MPa.
• Especially useful in comminuted fractures (multiple small fragments) and small, hard-to-fix bone pieces.

Early clinical studies show promising results in safety and effectiveness. Such innovations pave the way for the future of sports injury management and orthopedic care.

As a sports medicine practitioner, I often see the hidden cost of excessive pressure on young athletes. When children are pushed into multiple sports without proper recovery time, their growing bodies face a high risk of chronic injuries while their minds struggle with stress, burnout, and loss of motivation. Beyond performance, we must remember they are still children who deserve to enjoy the simple joys of childhood. The true goal is not short-term victories, but raising healthy, resilient, and happy athletes who can carry their love for sport throughout life.

PRP vs. Hyaluronic Acid in Osteoarthritis: What Works When Bone-on-Bone Contact Exists?

By Ahmed Shakyb

The clinical recommendations I have based on my findings.

One of the key conclusions from my current PhD research on regenerative medicine, which is specifically focused on knee osteoarthritis, is that timing and joint condition are crucial when deciding whether to use PRP or hyaluronic acid (viscosupplementation).

In bone-on-bone scenarios, where the joint space is almost or completely collapsed, PRP alone is often not enough to achieve optimal outcomes. This is something I’ve confirmed both in clinical settings and through case tracking.

To achieve the desired outcome, viscosupplementation with hyaluronic acid should be considered before PRP in these cases
• Improve joint lubrication
• Create minimal joint space
• Reduce mechanical friction
• Prepare the joint environment for PRP to take better effect

Using hyaluronic acid injections to reintroduce a degree of separation and cushion between joint surfaces can improve pe*******on and stimulate healing for subsequent PRP treatments.

The combination of viscosupplementation and PRP is effective in reducing pain, enhancing mobility, and achieving longer-lasting outcomes in advanced osteoarthritic joints than just PRP alone.
