As the world marks International Men’s Day today, concerns continue to grow over the number of men facing serious health and emotional challenges.

In an interview with Mlimi Radio, a mental health advocate at the Let’s Talk Mental Health Initiative innocent kwakala, said many men are silently battling life-threatening conditions that often lead to stress, anxiety, and Depression. He highlighted prostate cancer as one of the most common health threats facing men, stressing that the emotional strain that comes with such a diagnosis can worsen if support is lacking.

Kwakwala emphasized the importance of early medical screening, saying conditions like prostate cancer are easier to manage when detected early.

He noted that a man can face multiple health challenges at once including prostate cancer and other illnesses such as malaria, hence making regular hospital check-ups essential.

Kwakwala has therefore appealed to families, guardians, and communities to actively support men by encouraging them to seek medical and mental-health assistance whenever they face challenges.

According to him, strong support systems play a major role in preventing men from resorting to harmful decisions.

This World Mental Health Day, let's remember that mental health is a universal human right, especially for those facing adversity.

In every humanitarian emergency from conflicts to natural disasters the invisible wounds of trauma, anxiety, and grief run deep. While we see the physical needs, the psychological needs are just as critical and often last long after the headlines fade.

Today, we hold space for the millions around the world whose mental well-being is tested by crisis. Their resilience is profound, but it deserves our unwavering support. Let's advocate for mental health support to be a core part of every humanitarian response.

Congratulations 🎉👏

Today, we honor the legacy of Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda, the founding father of our nation, whose vision laid the foundation for a united and resilient Malawi. As we remember his leadership and dedication, let us also reflect on the importance of mental well-being in building a stronger and healthier society.

Mental health is national wealth. Let’s talk, support, and heal together.
