Our Mental health is important and can be affected by violence happening to us and around us...let us unite for this great cause!

We are in the commemoration of the 16 days of activism from 25th November to 10 December. This is an annual commemoration that aims at raising awareness of the issues of Gender Based Violence worldwide.

The theme this year is "Unite to end digital violence against girls and women"

Digital violence include cyber bullying - hurtful words and comments that are directed to what people post online based on their gender. In this digital era, it is very important that people know the principles of cyber etiquette and especially the effect that it can take on an individuals mental health. Hurtful words go beyond what we imagine, they stay with the person long after we have said them, and this can breed depression, anxiety and even leading to the dreadful action of su***de.

In the same vein we join other countries especially South Africa in speaking out against sexual violence and eventually killing of innocent women and sexual abuse of underage girls.

Let us unite to end Gender Based Violence!

Yesterday we had the privilege of having a conversation with student of Malawi College of Accountancy in Blantyre on the linkages between GBV and Mental Health...the highlight was when the men spoke out about inequalities against them when we are talking about gender...i do feel like balancing the scale to provide opportunities to both genders equally can greatly affect the outcome of ending gender based violence while embracing Mental health

As we are observing the 16 days of Activism with an action to unite and end violence against girls and women, it is pertinent to zoom in into the aftermath of the trauma to the victims tally, it is of great importance to have conversations on how Trauma affects us mentally and zero in on the link between Gender Based Violence and Mental Health

We are currently experiencing collective Trauma as a country...with the passing of a few individuals who have significantly contributed to important aspects of our Nation. Most Notably the Vice President, Saulos Klaus Chilima and 8 others who died in a plane Crash. Last night, we just lost Lucious Banda...not forgetting Ralph Kasambara, Bishop Kapenga and Hope Chisanu...

We are overwhelmed...so over the next few weeks, we are going to talk about Trauma and what we can do to cope....please post any questions on the subject in the comments.

This has been a hard year; aftermath of Covid, Cyclone Freddy, the economy, in particular now the devaluation....As a country we are traumatized, collective trauma.

As a result the 360 Wellness Expo aims to be a community event that wants to see people embody a healthy mindset and operate from a growth heart posture. In addition, the 19th of November is International Men's Day. Come one and all
