As various stakeholders are flocking in to help during this Cyclone Freddy recovery, Medical Association of Malawi (MAM) has requested it's members to volunteer with the teams participating in stabilising the effects of the disaster in their respective institutions and localities.
According to the statement signed by MAM president Dr Grace Chiudzu, being one of the key stakeholders in the health department, their help is needed most at the present time hence the call.
The association further urges all stakeholders participating in the response to pay adequate attention to the needs of vulnerable and neglected groups such as the elderly, pregnant
women, children, and those with physical and mental impairments.
Over 200 lives have been lost while thousands have been injured and displaced displaced following the recent Cyclone Freddy.
