From 12th to 14th October 2022, Mua Mission Hospital organized 3 days of training addressing poor neonatal outcome. 57 staff members were trained : clinical officers, nurses from every department and patient attendants of maternity and theatre. This training was subsidized by GIZ and presented by Mua's Principal Nursing Officer, Mua's nurse in charge of maternity, Mua's clinical superintendant and Safe Motherhood District Coordinator. Various topics were covered, such as partograph, cephalopelvic disproportion, prolonged labour, neonatal sepsis prevention and case studies on neonatal sepsis, fresh still births and neonatal deaths at Mua Hospital. The training helped the health workers to identify gaps and recommendations in offering quality care, among other actions, to comply to standards in infection prevention, assessing and interpretating data for timely action in maternity emergencies. This kind of initiative is always highly welcomed by Mua staff members, who are eager to constantly improve the standards and level of care provided by the hospital.

Glasses for Mua Mission Hospital

Glasses that have been donated by Xie Eyewear and several other well-wishers from the Netherlands have been handed over to the director of the hospital!

An ophthalmologist is present now at Mua Mission Hospital on a regular basis. He will use both the frames and the lenses for the patients coming to the hospital with eye problems.

The eye measurement device from a Dutch hospital is functioning excellently.

This can help many people! ☺

Device for measuring eyes at Mua Mission Hospital 👀

Mua Mission Hospital is very grateful to have received this device for measuring eyes from a donor from the Netherlands.

It is already in use. A special room will be prepared as an eye clinic.

Almost there!!!

Two containers with material for Mua Mission Hospital, the Centre for Social Concern Lilongwe and Tiyende Pamodzi Girls Secondary School have arrived at Dedza border! Soon several new beds, mattresses, bandages and other hospital goods will reach their destination.

Mua Mission Hospital is well prepared for the testing of Covid-19. I had to be tested myself. The clinical officers performed the test gently but thoroughly. Outcome of the rapid test within half an hour. Negative, fortunately.

Do you feel complaints? Go and get tested! And wear your mask!

These instruments for optical purposes will be donated to the hospital by Thérèse Huijbregts from the Netherlands. They will travel over sea by container. Thank you so much Thérèse!
