Maki is joining EDS and HSD Awareness Month from Mexico City, Mexico!
Maki was diagnosed with vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (vEDS) at age 4. An activist and an advocate for those in the EDS and HSD community, Maki set up an Ehlers Danlos Hispanoamérica awareness account.
"It is a pleasure to be a part of EDS & HSD Awareness Month again as an activist. I've learned a lot in these years.
I learned that health is not the deciding factor in whether or not you have a successful life and a life you are proud of. I'm grateful for my own body and all the weird stuff in it.
When people see me, I want them to see someone who has lived an incredibly complex life, an incredibly beautiful life, an incredibly painful life, and has done something with it. Join the awareness!"
