Heart of Awareness Buddhist Community

Heart of Awareness Buddhist Community The Heart of Awareness was created by a group of people, perhaps like yourself, interested in what the teachings of the Buddha (i.e. the Dharma) have to offer.

We welcome you to take refuge with us in The Three Jewels of Buddhism: The Buddha (exemplar), The Dharma (teachings), and The Sangha (embodiment of the first two through collaborative awareness and loving kindness in a supportive community of practice). Owing to the benefits we have each experienced in our meditation and other Dharma practices, we have been inspired to create an environment (a Sangha) that serves as a refuge of contemplation, teaching, learning, open discussion, support, and tranquility. We offer a regular schedule of frequent meditation periods, as well as study opportunities, and social events. There is no charge to participate. Whether you are curious, a beginner, or an experienced meditator – you are welcome.

Awareness

Ajahn Sumedho:

“Awareness is aware of itself — not as a person being aware, but just the knowing itself.”

Teachers like Tulku Urgyen, Mingyur Rinpoche, and Tsoknyi Rinpoche guide students to turn attention from the object to the knowing quality itself — an ungraspable, luminous presence.

This is not sponsored by Heart of Awareness but looks quite interesting. The cost is $1,000 mxn. It is Dammakhaya meditation, described as a revival of both "samatha" (tranquility) and "vipassanā" (insight) meditation practices in Thailand.
