Sweet flavors. Hidden chemicals. Lifelong damage.
This is the side of va**ng nobody wants to talk about.
A U.S. teenager has developed bronchiolitis obliterans better known as “popcorn lung” after three years of secret va**ng, and doctors say the damage is permanent.
This rare but devastating condition scars the smallest airways of the lungs, causing chronic coughing, wheezing, and lifelong breathing problems. Once linked to factory workers exposed to diacetyl, it’s now resurfacing in connection to flavored e-cigarettes.
Why?
More than 180 chemicals are used in v**e flavorings. They taste harmless, even fun but when heated and inhaled, many can become toxic. They bypass the body’s natural defenses and go straight into the lungs and bloodstream.
Experts warn that while some of these chemicals are safe to eat, they were never meant to be breathed in. The result: irreversible lung damage in teens who believed va**ng was “safer” than smoking.
As e-cigarette use rises, especially among young people, this case is another stark warning:
The candy flavor might fade… but the lung damage doesn’t.
