Comprendiendo la Trombosis Venosa Profunda (TVP)

La trombosis venosa profunda (TVP) es una condición seria que ocurre cuando se forma un coágulo de sangre en una vena profunda, generalmente en la pierna. Es vital conocer sus síntomas para buscar atención médica a tiempo, ya que un coágulo puede desprenderse y viajar a los pulmones, causando una embolia pulmonar.

Como se muestra en la imagen, una pierna con TVP puede presentar signos visibles y evidentes como:

Hinchazón: La pierna afectada se inflama notablemente.

Enrojecimiento: La piel adquiere un color rojizo o morado.

Dolor y calor: La zona se siente caliente al tacto y dolorosa, similar a un calambre o una molestia.

En contraste, la imagen de la pierna izquierda muestra el sistema venoso saludable, con venas como la vena femoral y la gran vena safena funcionando correctamente.

A psychedelic compound may hold the key to longer cellular life

Groundbreaking research revealed that psilocin, the active compound found in psychedelic mushrooms, extended the lifespan of human skin and lung cells by more than 50 percent. This astonishing result has scientists rethinking not only the medical potential of psychedelics but also what it might mean for the future of human longevity.

Psilocin is usually studied for its effects on the brain, particularly in treating depression, PTSD, and anxiety. But this study looked deeper, exploring how the compound interacts with cells at a biological level. To the researchers’ surprise, psilocin didn’t just protect the cells from stress—it significantly slowed down the aging process, allowing them to survive far longer than normal.

Traditionally, aging has been seen as an unstoppable decline, where cells gradually lose their ability to repair and regenerate. Científicos han logrado destruir el 99 % de las células cancerosas en laboratorio usando luz infrarroja cercana, sin medicamentos ni cirugía.
Utilizando moléculas llamadas aminocyaninas, que antes se usaban como colorantes para imágenes de cáncer, han descubierto que estas también pueden actuar como "martillos moleculares" al ser estimuladas por luz. Este movimiento hace que las membranas de las células cancerosas se rompan rápidamente, más de un millón de veces más rápido que métodos anteriores.
Las moléculas que destruyen las membranas celulares mediante VDA se han denominado martillos neumáticos moleculares, ya que experimentan vibraciones moleculares coordinadas. Dado que es improbable que una célula desarrolle resistencia a estas fuerzas mecánicas moleculares, los martillos neumáticos moleculares representan una modalidad alternativa para inducir la muerte de células cancerosas.
La luz infrarroja permite que esta técnica penetre más profundamente en los tejidos, lo que podría eliminar la necesidad de cirugía. Los resultados mostraron éxito en cultivos de células cancerosas y en ratones con melanoma, donde la mitad de ellos se volvió libre de cáncer. Esta técnica podría ser una nueva y efectiva forma de tratar el cáncer, evitando la resistencia a los medicamentos.
