As a Hakomi therapist, I always feel nourished after a session, versus depleted. If you're curious about Hakomi....here are some succinct deets:
Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy combines advances in neuroscience with the gentle inward-looking practice of Mindfulness
10 Basic Assumptions of the Hakomi Method
1. Early experiences impact perception.
2. Perception impacts core beliefs about one’s self and one’s world.
3. Core beliefs inform behavior and body stance
4. Core organizing beliefs are kept in the unconscious (implicit memory) for protection and efficiency
5. Unprocessed, and therefore unintegrated wounds lead to disorganized and habitually limiting behaviors i.e. personality or character types.
6. Therapy happens when the therapist, using relational mindfulness, gains cooperation of the client's unconscious.
7. Working collaboratively, somatically and in mindfulness allows for:
-limbic connections to be restored
-neural pathways shifted, repaired and strengthened
-implicit memory becomes explicit and integrated.
8. Introducing delayed or denied nourishment, using mindfulness and consciousness managing techniques, helps the client have a deep and more complete understanding of his/her self-organization.
9. Increased self-awareness allows for a greater sense of choice in responding to life's circumstances, i.e. increases adaptability.
10. Increased choice results in more functional, flexible and adaptive behaviors.
**By intentionally shifting into expanded states of consciousness, Hakomi practitioners develop an exquisite sensitivity and attunement to others. Hakomi training facilitates the emergence of a heart-centered welcoming presence in the practitioner, reducing client resistance and fostering a sense of safety and connection in the healing relationship.**
Experience Hakomi for yourself with me if you feel called.
