UAS positions itself as an international leader in scientific research with the XVII International Lactoferrin Conference
The Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa (UAS) reaffirms its global leadership in research and innovation with the inauguration of the XVII International Conference on the Structure, Functions, and Applications of Lactoferrin, held in strategic collaboration with the Sinaloa Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR).
The event, which brings together more than 200 researchers, students, and industry leaders from 26 countries, was inaugurated by Dr. Manuel Iván Tostado Ramírez, Vice-Rector of the UAS Southern Regional Unit, who emphasized that the conference positions UAS at the forefront of the international stage.
“Very pleased. This speaks to the quality of the University and to the recognition it has earned not only at the national level, but internationally. Being, for the second time in 17 editions, the host of this conference, we have just inaugurated the 17th edition (…). As Vice-Rector of the Southern Regional Unit, we are very pleased and very proud that UAS continues to uphold its prestige at the international level, and that events in the health field, in this case focused on lactoferrin, contribute to the well-being of all human beings through health,” the official remarked.
Dr. Luis Alberto González García, Director of the Faculty of Medicine, highlighted the high level of biomedical research at the institution and its ability to convene the global scientific elite, fostering dialogue on the latest innovations in the field.
“First of all, it is remarkable because we have a group that is conducting research and generating knowledge; we do not merely replicate knowledge. At the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa, knowledge is also generated—knowledge with international relevance. And this type of activity enables collaboration among different research groups across the world,” the Director noted.
In governmental collaboration, Mr. Alejandro Higuera Osuna, Deputy Secretary of the Meetings Industry of SECTUR Sinaloa, underscored the strategic importance of the State and the future scientific developments that position Sinaloa as a hub of innovation capable of attracting tourism.
“These are first-class events. And obviously, sponsored by our Alma Mater, the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa, they place the University at the forefront of other institutions and of scientific discussions. This event in which we are participating today is a truly scientific event (…). Thus, having in our city a conference that is worldclass, of the highest level, places the University at the forefront, competing with any university in the world. I believe this is the importance of this type of conference: beyond tourism, the scientific component that places the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa at the forefront of other institutions in scientific matters in Sinaloa,” Higuera Osuna stated.
The UAS, through its Faculty of Medicine, featured the distinguished participation of researchers such as Dr. Nidia Maribel León Sicairos, organizer of the event and member of the International Scientific Committee, demonstrating her commitment to educational excellence and her leadership capacity, further consolidating the scientific prestige of the university and the region on a global scale. In this same context, Dr. Hans Vogel, President of the Scientific Committee promoting the forum, emphasized the importance of this scientific gathering, supported by UAS and the Government of Mexico. He highlighted international collaboration in scientific research and the need for information exchange with an emphasis on developing new technologies and products, as well as the relevance of science for sustainable development.
This major event, which includes the participation of industries from Japan, France, Australia, among others, underscores the successful linkage between academia, government, and the private sector. It provides scientists, students, business leaders, and the general public with a high-level educational experience, enabling the scientific community to engage with the practical applications of recent advances and thus strengthening innovation in the health sector.
