Here we are looking at an eye with a very advanced case of keratoconus. This patient recently visited us seeking help with this eye. This patient had no functional vision (finger counting at the initial visit) with this eye for many years prior to her visit. Before coming here this patient was scheduled to undergo a corneal transplant operation. We fit this eye with an EyePrint Pro (EPP) scleral lens that we designed from an impression taken of the ocular surface. The impression was sent to the EyePrint lab where 3D printing technology was used to make this very hi tech scleral lens. When we dispensed the EPP scleral lens for this eye this patient was able to achieve clear (20/25) comfortable vision. This patient will not need a corneal transplant.
