Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
In this class we practice most of the First Primary Series, covering through the different classes the full primary series. Yoga Chikitsa (योग चिकित्सा, Yoga Cikitsā) is the Sanksrit (संक्सृत्, Saṁksr̥t) name for the primary series and it can be translated as Yoga Therapy. Therefore this series purifies and heals the body. The first or primary series forms the basis for all subsequent series. Superficially seen it may seem the easiest of all six Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga series. It is however the most difficult one; it is the series first learnt by every Ashtanga-Yogi; this is where one becomes familiar with the Vinyasa System and gets used to everyday Yoga practice. A healing and intense practice, based on the marriage between breath and movement with the practice of ujjayi breath, bhandas (internal actions) and drishti (focus of the eyes). – Modified Primary Series
The Fundamentals to Ashtanga Yoga Class is designed for students new to the Ashtanga practice or current students who want to refine their practice. The Fundamentals Class is a modified Primary Series sequence and provides guided instruction of the postures. The class maintains the flow, breath and meditation of the Ashtanga practice and includes the basic principles of Ashtanga: Ujjai breathing, bandas and drishti. The sanscrit names are used for poses so that students integrate the names as they learn the series. Every student who is mindful of their body’s needs and limitations is invited to take the class and participate at an appropriate level. Ashtanga yoga and this class are a non-competitive, relaxed and mindful practice. Class duration 75 min. Vinyasa
In vinyasa yoga classes, students coordinate movement with breath to flow from one pose to the next; expanding and contracting, like ebb and flow, we vitalize, strengthen and fill ourselves with prana or life energy. This class is designed so that mothers can practice yoga with their babies, regaining strength and vitality as well as encouraging movement and play with the babies. QUIENES SOMOS?
Diana Hoogesteger
Diana's great fascination and inquiry in life has for long been the deeper understanding of human behavior and experiential learning. Her first contact to the functioning of the Body- Mind relation was through Contact Improvisation Dance at age 16. She studied Intercultural Theater and Education at the Arts School in Utrecht, Netherlands, based on the teachings of Jacques Lecoq and Body- Mind exploration. In 2000 she discovered the art and teachings of yoga, which supported and inspired her to the point to make it her main study and practice in the coming years. She participates in festivals, has taught in schools, sport centers and assisted teacher trainings, she gives workshops, teaches group as well as individual classes. As part of her body-mind and yoga exploration she started practicing massage in 2003, having found in Thai massage the results that best respond her search for healing and relaxation. She combines this method with other resources to best respond to the needs of each individual person.
Diana also takes part working in Theater and Performing Arts as a performer, directing, coaching and producing. She is a true nature lover and an environmental activist.
Desde muy temprana edad Diana ha tenido la inquietud y fascinación de entender el comportamiento humano y la investigación del aprendizaje por medio de la experiencia. Su primer contacto con la relación de Cuerpo-Mente la tuvo a travéz de la danza de Improvización de Contacto a los 16 años. Estudió Teatro Intercultural y Educación en la Escuela Superior de Artes, en Utrecht, Holanda, basado en las enseñanzas de Jacques Lecoq y Body-Mind. En el 2000 descubrió el arte y las enseñanzas de yoga, que la apoyaron e inspiraron hasta volverse su enfoque principal de estudios y práctica.
Ha participado en la asistencia y enseñanza de nuevos maestros, trabajó en centros deportivos , escuelas y en festivales de yoga , da talleres independientes así como clases privadas de grupo e individuales. Como parte de su exploraciòn de cuerpo-mente y yoga Diana empezò a practicar masaje en el 2003. En el masaje Thailandès encontrò los resultados que mejor respondieron a su bùsqueda de sanaciòn y relajaciòn. Combina este mètodo con otras tècnicas para mejor servir las necesidades especìficas de cada persona. Diana tambièn trabaja en Teatro y Arte Performativa como actriz, directora, instructora y productora. Es una gran amante de la naturaleza y activista ambiental.
