My name is Lucy Mejia and i have been practising acupuncture and Massage for 10 years. I have a Bachelor of Health Science, majoring in Acupuncture and a Diploma of Remedial massage from the Endevour College of Natural Medicine in Melbourne, Australia. With my firm belief in the power of nature and human touch I have also taken courses in Reiki, Qi Gong, Hot stone therapy and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage. With a thirst for more knowledge and skills I have sought out many Japanese acupuncture masters whom I have trained with, developing my treatment approach and style, with a strong focus on pelvic re-alignment and women’s health and fertility. If the pelvis is out of alignment due to poor posture, injury or repetitive strain, than the musculature that attaches from the pelvis up too the base of the neck and down to the knee joint will develop lines of tension that will create pain and discomfort in many areas including the neck, back, shoulders, jaw, knee and hip areas. Acupuncture is a very effective way to correct and maintain this pelvic alignment and is far less invasive and painful than chiropractic manipulation or a session with your physiotherapist. I have decided to specialize in Japanese Meridian Therapy as the Japanese have studied, applied, and modified the theory and tools of Acupuncture and developed unique styles, which are remarkably more refined and gentle. Japanese needling techniques generally involve thinner and smaller needles and employ shallower insertions. The Japanese believe in the importance of allowing the Ki (Energy) to arrive harmoniously, without discomfort and therefore achieving a regulating, replenishing and re-balancing effect. The Japanese have also refined the use of Moxibustion ( heat treatment using a smoldering herb) down to an art, using it in combination with needling for enhanced results. Massage is also performed as another integral part of the treatment. My treatments are unique in the way I combine my skills and styles. I place great importance on human touch and will therefore combine your acupuncture treatment with massage. This combined treatment is not only results driven but also has the ability to re-connect us with our true nature. This massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue, targeting more specific areas of muscle tightness and restrictions. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body. Direct deep pressure is applied to acupuncture points and along the natural flow of the meridians, eliminating knots and scar tissue caused by blood and Ki stagnation along the energy pathways. Lomi Lomi originated in the south pacific and was traditionally used during rites of passage as a transformational massage and healing system. What makes lomi lomi such a special style is the combination of movement, rhythm, breath, energy and massage, which ultimately leads to very powerful releases at all levels. This treatment is done primarily using the entire arm span, including forearms and elbows with long flowing strokes sweeping across the entire span of the body, moving stagnation at all levels- emotionally, physically and spiritually.
