🌴 Grateful to have been able to squeeze in an impromptu trip to the islands of El Cuyo & Holbox on the north coast of Mexico’s Yucatán.

Sunrise ocean swims. Deserted beaches.
Wild pink flamingoes.
Dancing barefoot in muddy streets after the rain.
Strolling through the local village and buying delicious honey from an abuelo.
Boat rides through calm waters and watching the fishermen reel in their catch.
Deep conversations and so much giggling.
Getting lost and walking many more kilometres than expected.
And surprisingly, the best Japanese cuisine I’ve tasted in Mexico so far.

Driving through sleepy villages, following the rhythm of the tides, and letting time slow the fk down.

Sometimes the best therapy is found in the simple things - the laughter, sunshine, the salt on your skin, and being completely present without time constraints.

It was just what this burned out mama needed 🙏🏻

October recap 🍂

A month which included precious time with the Aussie fam, a road trip across the Yucatán, lots of work and new opportunities, plus new (and old) connections. It was also the first month I hadn’t travelled overseas in aaaages, so I felt very grounded 🧘‍♀️

Grateful for this life we have carved in this little corner of the world 🌎

Finding the balance between giving and receiving 💕

Hosting retreats has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. I get to witness people soften, reconnect, and rediscover themselves in settings that invite stillness and wonder.

But over the years, I’ve also learned that holding space for others requires deep awareness of my own energy output. In order to give meaningfully, I need to stay connected to what fills me as well.

There was a time when I believed that being of service meant constantly showing up; always saying yes, offering, guiding, holding, creating. And while that came from my own heartfelt intentions, I began to realize that constantly pouring out without pausing to refill left me depleted. In the early days of leading retreats, I would have been working extremely long hours in my commercial kitchen in the weeks beforehand, only to travel to a retreat setting and then cater for all the participants, day and night.

Now, I understand that the art of leading - of truly serving - lies in balance.
In between the giving, there must be receiving.
In between the teaching, there must be listening and self-learning.
In between the doing, there must be stillness - although that’s still a work in progress 🤪.

For me, that includes early morning walks with my son and my 🐶. Or time by the ocean. Or a few days completely offline. And stimulating conversations that feed the soul.

These are not luxuries - they’re the fuel that allows me to show up with presence, compassion, and creativity for the people who I serve.

And the more I honour that rhythm, the more sustainable and transformative my work becomes 🌿

Is there such a thing as post-retreat blues? 🤔Absolutely.

During a retreat, a group of people come together for several days of shared experiences, self-discovery, and connection. As they open up, grow, and experience an adventure together, a unique bond forms - one that often lasts long after the retreat ends.

So when it’s time to return to normal life, the transition can feel a little bittersweet. You might miss the laughter, the openness, and the deep sense of connection you shared in that sacred space.

Even after 15 years of leading and attending retreats, I still feel it every time.

The beauty of it all is that the retreat never truly ends. The people, the lessons, the laughter - they become part of who you are. Every time you pause to breathe, reconnect, or reach out to someone you met, you’re keeping that energy alive.

Maybe that’s the magic of retreat life - it awakens something that can’t be undone. The connection, the clarity, the sense of belonging… it lingers. And that, to me, is the best bit of it all 😍

SWEDEN RETREAT (AND LIFETIME) HIGHLIGHT ✨💫

Before heading to Sweden last month, there was one thing I was most excited to witness — the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights.

For years, I’d admired stunning images on screens and in print, but I knew that nothing could compare to experiencing it in person.

At our first retreat destination, we caught a soft shimmer of the lights - it was a subtle yet still impressive for us first timers. And although this is a natural phenomenon, its appearance is not guaranteed.

It wasn’t until our second destination, north of the Arctic Circle, after leading an Autumn Equinox ceremony by the log fireplace, that true magic unfolded.

As we stepped outside our cabin, the sky came alive. Colors shifted and danced - waves of green, pink, and red swirling above us - while bright shooting stars streaked across the night. Despite the cold, we scampered like excited children along the lake’s edge, searching for the best vantage point, completely in awe.

We lay on our backs on damp moss, cameras in hand (with guidance from the amazing 📸), capturing every moment. The following night, the show returned - and it was just as spectacular.

For all of us there, it wasn’t just a travel highlight - it was a life highlight. 🌌

For those who haven’t seen them, the Northern Lights are a breathtaking natural phenomenon created by solar particles colliding with Earth’s atmosphere — a reminder of just how amazing our universe truly is. 🌠

If you’re keen to experience for yourself, we’re excited to be returning to the Arctic for a Winter Wonderland Adventure Retreat in Norway – in February 2027 ❄️

Last weekend I had the honour of representing Palmaïa at the World Travel Awards held in Cancún.

Fresh off the plane (with a wave of jet lag 🙃), the evening was fabulous — an opportunity to celebrate the passion, dedication, and the collective effort of the incredible Palmaïa team.

We were proud to receive two distinguished awards:

🏆 Leading Luxury Wellness Resort – Mexico & Central America
🏆 Leading Luxury Beach Resort - Mexico

These awards reflect the unique transformative experiences we create for our guests — blending wellness, nature, and luxury in the heart of the Riviera Maya. 🌴

And as a beautiful bonus, I was able to spend the following day in Cancún with my mum and sister, who had just arrived from Australia. 🥰

How do you even put into words an experience that exceeded all expectations and has had a profound effect on everyone from the retreat?

A week spent in nature with an incredible group of women who bonded seamlessly, grew within themselves, and shared so many unforgettable moments together.

From hiking through stunning landscapes - winding trails, golden autumn forests, mountains, pristine lakes and rivers — to embracing every kind of seasonal weather, from sunny days to sleet and snow. ❄️🍂

From wood fired daily group sauna sessions that invited deep conversations, to exhilarating cold plunges in icy lakes and rivers. 🔥🥶

From guided foraging walks discovering wild herbs, flowers, and berries with , to photography workshops with Sara , who taught us perspective, framing, depth, and countless tips on techniques to take better photos. 📸

From mindful daily sessions connecting us with nature, to lakeside yoga with to breathwork sessions to a powerful Autumn Equinox Ceremony by the fire. 🔥

And one of the trip highlights - witnessing the mind blowing Northern Lights dancing above us in a sky filled with stars. 🌌💫

From genuine belly laughs to friendships that will last a lifetime.

As we kept saying throughout the trip, and what became our motto - it was “not a s**t time” 😉

Thank you to everyone who made this retreat one of the most profound experiences of my life.

In fact we are so enamoured with this region that we’re returning to the Arctic for a Winter Adventure Retreat in Norway, in early 2027. ❄️✨

DM if you would like to join the pre-launch list for this next unforgettable adventure!

Morocco Magic 🇲🇦

Photo summary of the precious time I got to spend with Ollie my eldest son whilst in Morocco last week.

Now that he lives on the other side of the world to us, I took the opportunity to extend my stay and fly him down to Marrakech for us to spend a long weekend together.

In 2005 I spent several months leading tours in Morocco so it was fantastic to return twenty years later and show Ollie some of my favourite elements of this amazing country.

We explored the Medina, walked the streets, sampled the cuisine, travelled to the coastal town of Essouira, experienced a traditional Hammam steam bath, and spent lots of time deep in conversation.

Who knows when or where will be the next time we will see each again in person, but I’m already looking forward to our next adventure together. Love you O Bear 🐻

That’s a wrap on Pure 2025 in Marrakech.

It’s been a very intense five days, from early mornings to the late evenings, all the meetings, networking and partying, yet such a fantastic experience.

I met so many incredible people, hailing from every corner of the globe (including some new Aussie friends!) and lots of inspiring connections. It was a great opportunity to share about Palmaïa - The House of AïA to top industry professionals.

It had been 20 years since I’d been to Morocco, back when I was leading adventure group tours here, and it’s been fantastic to be here again, amongst the colours, sights, sounds, tastes and smells.

Now it’s time to enjoy a few days of further exploring in Morocco with my eldest son who has flown in from London 💙

✨ First Day in Marrakech ✨

Along with a group of fellow Pure event attendees, we set off into the Atlas Mountains for a hike that took us through pine forests, farms, rocky escarpments, and desert landscapes before descending into a valley of Berber villages supported by the Pure organisation.

At the final destination, local residents welcomed us with a traditional breakfast including mint tea and freshly squeezed orange juice. Soon, the whole community gathered — men and women seated separately — and the girls, shy at first, began practicing their English with us. Within moments, music and dancing was all around us.

We also visited the just opened school, where we helped paint the mural on the outside. This small space will host lessons for preschool children as well as craft workshops for teenage girls who would otherwise finish school at just 12 years old.

The elders played music into the afternoon as we danced and connected. Witnessing the impact of this support firsthand was truly memorable.

My last time in Morocco was over 20 years ago, back when I led tours around the country, so it’s been amazing to be able to come back again in a different phase of life, and yet in some ways, it all feels the same 🧡
