Association Of Malaysian Optometrists (AMO) The Association of Malaysian Optometrists (AMO) is a non-governmental non-profit professional body.

The Association of Malaysian Optometrists (AMO) is the professional body that represents optometrists in Malaysia. Optometrists are graduates with at least a Bachelor of Optometry degree from a recognized university. Some optometrists also possess other entry-level qualifications such as the professional masters and doctoral degrees in optometry. Optometrists are the primary eye care professionals who provide comprehensive eye examination and vision care services which include: prescription of glasses and contact lenses, rehabilitation of the visual system in lazy eyes and in cases of binocular vision difficulties, and the detection of common eye diseases.

It is with profound sadness that we extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Prof Dr Ong Kok Hai, Founder and President of Rainbow Bridge. Rainbow Bridge

AMO fondly remembers the meaningful collaboration established through the Memorandum of Understanding signed on 11 May 2023 between Rainbow Bridge and the Association of Malaysian Optometrists, witnessed by our Vice President. This partnership marked the beginning of a compassionate initiative to provide eye examinations and prescription glasses to underprivileged children under Rainbow Bridgeโ€™s care.

Through the โ€œGift of Sightโ€ project, Prof Ongโ€™s vision enabled children in homes supported by Rainbow Bridge to receive proper eye care and glasses at cost price, ensuring that financial hardship would not stand in the way of clear vision and brighter opportunities. His dedication to serving vulnerable communities reflected his deep commitment to humanity and social responsibility.

Prof Ongโ€™s leadership, kindness, and unwavering passion for helping others have left a lasting impact on the community. His legacy lives on in the lives of the children who can now see the world more clearly because of his efforts.

On behalf of AMO, we extend our deepest sympathies to his family, colleagues, and the entire Rainbow Bridge community.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy of compassion continue to inspire us all.
