It’s the small wins that mean the most.

Valerie shares a moment that stood out during Daniel’s time at ATG — something simple to others, but everything to a parent.

These are the moments we work towards.

Not just big milestones, but meaningful changes that make everyday life a little easier, a little more possible.
Because every win matters. 💙

The first 2 years can change everything.

In this reel, Tharsh shares why early intervention — especially within the 0 to 24 months window — is so powerful for a child’s development.

This is when the brain is most adaptable, and early movement patterns play a huge role.

You’ll hear him mention things like:
• 2-point – early supported movement using two points of contact
• 4-point – hands and knees position (like crawling prep)
• Creeping – coordinated crawling using both arms and legs

These aren’t just milestones — they’re the foundations that build strength, coordination, and future movement like standing and walking.

Start early, build right — it makes all the difference.

Aquatic therapy isn’t just ‘exercise in water.

Fezia shares one of the biggest things parents often miss — that the pool isn’t about making movements easier, but about helping the body learn differently.

In water, balance is challenged, the senses are engaged, and the child begins to understand their body in a whole new way.

When used with the right approach, it’s not just therapy…it’s a powerful space for connection, control, and real progress. 💧

When will my child walk?

It’s one of the most common — and most emotional — questions parents ask.

In this reel, Casandra shares how she approaches this question with honesty and care. Because while walking is an important goal, the journey towards it is made up of many smaller, meaningful steps — strength, control, balance, and confidence.

Every child’s timeline is different.

And sometimes, focusing on building the right foundations matters more than chasing a single milestone.

Progress isn’t always fast — but when it’s built right, it lasts.

Ramai ibu bapa datang dengan hati yang berat…

Takut, risau, penat — semua bercampur bila melibatkan anak sendiri.

The hardest part isn’t teaching movement — it’s learning to let go.

Fezia shares what she’s seen across different countries and therapists:
a common fear of giving children freedom in the water, especially when they’re used to being closely monitored all the time.

But in aquatic therapy, that safe space to explore is where real learning begins.

When children are given the chance to move, respond, and discover on their own — that’s when confidence, control, and connection start to grow.

It’s not about removing support.
It’s about knowing when and how much to give.

💙💛 A Day Late, But Our Hearts Are Full 💛💙

Yesterday was — and while we're a little late to post, our celebration of every incredible individual with Down syndrome is always timely. 🌊

At the International Halliwick Association, we believe the water holds something truly special for everyone — and that belief is backed by growing evidence.

We are thrilled to share that exciting new developments within the Halliwick programme are placing a dedicated focus on two areas that matter deeply for individuals with Down syndrome:

👁️ VISION — recognising how visual tracking and gaze control in the aquatic environment can guide movement, build confidence, and support independence in the water.

🌬️ BREATH — deepening our understanding of breath control as a gateway not just to swimming, but to respiratory health, speech, and overall wellbeing — areas of particular significance for people with Down syndrome.

This focus is firmly grounded in research. IHA Education & Research Committee member Konstantinos Chandolias and colleagues demonstrated that a Halliwick-based hydrotherapy programme produced statistically significant improvements in the respiratory function of children with Down syndrome — outperforming conventional physiotherapy alone.

In water, ability shines. Every breath taken, every gaze held, every stroke made — is a step toward greater independence and joy. 💙

Happy (belated) World Down Syndrome Day to all our swimmers, families, therapists, and supporters around the world. You inspire everything we do.

When we talk about therapy, we often think of exercises and sessions. But what a child eats every day plays just as important a role in their progress.

In this reel, Catherine, a registered dietitian with ATG, shares why nutrition is a key part of supporting children with cerebral palsy — whether they are orally fed or tube fed.

The right nutrition fuels the brain, supports muscle function, and helps the body recover and respond better to therapy.

Because sometimes, progress doesn’t just come from what we do in sessions…
it starts with what we nourish the body with every day.
