KOTA KINABALU: While elderly care and rehabilitation are well established in Peninsular Malaysia, many of Sabah's seniors still struggle to access basic physiotherapy and geriatric services - a gap that health professionals say must be addressed as the state's ageing population grows.

BEAUFORT, 21 September – Sambutan Hari Fisioterapi Sedunia
2025 peringkat Beaufort, Sabah berlangsung meriah dengan tema "Penuaan Sihat: Jatuh & Kerapuhan" yang bertujuan meningkatkan kesedaran mengenai peranan fisioterapi dalam mencegah risiko jatuh dan menyokong kesejahteraan sepanjang hayat. Majlis perasmian telah disempurnakan oleh Tuan Haji Jaludin Haji Kadir, Pegawai Khas mewakili YB Datuk Hajah Siti Aminah Haji Aching, Pengerusi Lembaga Pengarah RISDA Semaian & Landskap Sdn. Bhd. merangkap Ahli Parlimen P.177 Beaufort. Pusat Khidmat Rakyat - P.177 Beaufort
Turut hadir memeriahkan majlis:

Acara bermula seawal jam 6.00 pagi dengan senaman pemanasan & regangan, diikuti pelepasan pertandingan Larian 10KM Run dan 5KM Fun Run telah dilepaskan oleh Dr. Jason Jimmy Lee Pillay, selaku penaja utama. Larian 10KM mempertandingkan 4 kategori iaitu Men Open, Women Open, Women Veteran dan Men Veteran. Lebih 500 peserta menyertai program ini termasuk masyarakat setempat, agensi kerajaan, NGO, sukarelawan, serta wakil dari Semenanjung Malaysia & Sarawak.
Sambutan turut diserikan dengan:

𝚆𝙾𝚁𝙻𝙳 𝙿𝙷𝚈𝚂𝙸𝙾𝚃𝙷𝙴𝚁𝙰𝙿𝚈 𝙳𝙰𝚈 2025 𝙲𝙴𝙻𝙴𝙱𝚁𝙰𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽 𝙸𝙽 𝙱𝙴𝙰𝚄𝙵𝙾𝚁𝚃

BEAUFORT, 21 September – The World Physiotherapy Day 2025 celebration for Beaufort, Sabah was successfully held with the theme "Healthy Ageing: Falls & Frailty" aimed at raising awareness about the role of physiotherapy in preventing fall risks and supporting lifelong well-being. The opening ceremony was officiated by Tuan Haji Jaludin Haji Kadir, Special Officer representing YB Datuk Hajah Siti Aminah Haji Aching, Chairman of RISDA Semaian & Landskap Sdn. Bhd. and Member of Parliament for P.177 Beaufort.
Also present to enliven the ceremony:

👤 ASP Ng Chai Sing representing Superintendent Wong Leong Ming – Officer in Charge of Police District Beaufort
👤 Mr. Helmi bin Hashim – Head of Physiotherapy Profession Malaysia
👤 Ms. Lily Kong – Head of Physiotherapy Profession Sabah State
👤 Dr. Syahiskandar Sybil Shah – Head of Rehabilitation Medicine Services Sabah State
👤 Mr. Naqiuddin bin Johar – Senior Physiotherapist, Putrajaya Hospital
The event began as early as 6:00 AM with warm-up exercises and stretching, followed by the flag-off of the 10KM Competitive Run and 5KM Fun Run by Dr. Jason Jimmy Lee Pillay as the main sponsor. The 10KM run featured 4 categories: Men Open, Women Open, Women Veteran, and Men Veteran. Over 500 participants joined this program including local community members, government agencies, NGOs, volunteers, and representatives from Peninsular Malaysia & Sarawak.
The celebration was further enhanced with:
✨ Dance performances by local Beuafort group - kumpulan Kg. Luagan
✨ Presentations by patients from Physiotherapy Unit, Beaufort Hospital
✨ Health talks & free screening
✨ Blood donation drive
✨ Agency & NGO exhibition booths
✨ Community vendor stalls
This program was organised by Beaufort Hospital Physiotherapy Unit in collaboration with Beaufort Medical Recreation Club (BMRC) and support from various local agencies and sponsors.
