1. Hitting the sack early could be a preventative measure for life-threatening diseases such as cancer. The World Health Organization has officially classified night shift work as a probable carcinogen as it interferes with our circadian rhythm (otherwise known as the body clock).

2. Sleep statistics show that 7 out of 10 college students don’t get adequate sleep, however sleep has proven itself to be an excellent memory aid. Both animal and human studies have uncovered that good quality sleep, for the right amount of time (seven-eight hours), has a positive impact on both learning and memory.

3. There’s a stack of evidence that sleep is the crucial ingredient when it comes to weight management – sleep stops pounds being piled on. For decades scientists and doctors have explained that insufficient sleep affects the secretion of cortisol (a hormone that regulates appetite) and the body’s ability to regulate blood sugar levels.

3 Tips to stop smoking

1. Is your after-dinner cigarette your favourite? A US study revealed that some foods, including meat, make ci******es more satisfying. 1.Taking up exercise seems to reduce the risk of developing mental illness. It also seems to help in treating some mental health conditions, like depression and anxiety.

2.Taking time out to rest and relax not only helps our bodies to have a break, but it is also important for our mental health. It can help you calm your thoughts down if you have had a busy day or you have a lot going through your mind and reflect on your day and how it made you feel.
