This is the story of a brave mother and her miracle baby.

She is 38 years old, carrying her second child—a pregnancy already labelled high-risk. She battled diabetes complicating pregnancy, a baby growing larger than expected, and polyhydramnios. Every checkup came with prayers. Every single day mattered. Because for babies at risk of being born too soon, every extra day in the womb counts like gold.

We watched the calendar anxiously, hoping to prolong the pregnancy—just a little longer, just one more day. But life had its own timing. At 33 weeks, her waters broke. It was early… too early.

Yet, out came a tiny but strong fighter—2.54kg of pure determination. Born on World Prematurity Day itself, as if to remind us that miracles don’t always follow our plans, but they always find their way.

Today, we celebrate this little warrior and every premature baby who has fought their way into the world. We honour the mothers and families who show immense strength, the healthcare teams who stand by them, and the babies who prove every day that size does not define strength.

💜 Happy World Prematurity Day 💜
May fewer babies be born too soon.
And for those who are—may they grow healthy, strong and deeply loved.

What an incredible privilege it is to be part of the most intimate moments in a family's life.

A wonderful mother, expecting her second child, came to me in labour. We worked together, patiently waiting and monitoring, as her body and her baby prepared for their first meeting.

And then, the moment arrived. A beautiful, healthy baby girl made her grand entrance into the world, filling the room with a new life's promise and a powerful cry.

But the story had one more surprise in store. As I welcomed this little one, I realized we were sharing a truly special bond—she had chosen my birthday to be her birthday! ✨

To deliver a baby on your own birthday is an indescribable joy. It’s a profound reminder that this isn't just a job; it's a journey I get to share with the incredible families I serve. It’s about more than medicine; it’s about connection, hope, and the circle of life.

Thank you to this brave mama and her beautiful family for allowing me to be a part of your story. May your life be filled with as much joy as you've brought me on my birthday.

I recently saw a 53-year-old lady with no known medical illness who came to me because of heavy and prolonged menstrual bleeding. On assessment, her endometrial lining appeared thickened, and I scheduled her for a hysteroscopy. During the procedure, we found excessive tissue growth over the anterior and lateral walls of the uterus. The histopathology (HPE) report later confirmed the diagnosis of atypical endometrial hyperplasia.

When I broke the news to her, she seemed to understand but needed some time to consider the operation.🥺I know it’s not easy to take in such news — it can be overwhelming and frightening. But I reminded her that she is not alone in this journey. We will walk alongside her, every step of the way, and fight this together. There is always hope, and together we will work towards the best possible outcome!

Recently, I’ve noticed more and more people coming down with influenza (the flu). Many of my patients — especially expectant mothers — have shared their worries with me, and I completely understand their concern.

Here’s some important information about influenza and pregnancy, and why getting vaccinated is such a vital step in protecting both mother and baby.

I always remind my patients:
One simple injection can protect two lives.
Get your flu vaccine today — for yourself and your little one.

Women who have journeyed through menopause are pillars of strength, wisdom, and love in our lives. They are mothers, wives, daughters, mentors, and leaders who have nurtured families, guided communities, and contributed immensely to society.

Menopause is not an end—it is a new chapter of growth, confidence, and purpose. Their experience and resilience continue to inspire younger generations. Let us honour these remarkable women, reminding them that they are deeply appreciated, valued, and still vibrant contributors to the world around them ❤️

Hysteroscopy is one of the most common procedures in gynaecology. It can be performed either in an office setting or in the operating theatre, depending on the purpose and complexity of the case.

I still remember my days as a medical officer — there were times when our operating theatre list was filled with six to eight hysteroscopies in a single day! It just shows how frequently this procedure is performed and how valuable it is in helping women with various uterine conditions.

Today, I’d like to share a little more about hysteroscopy — what it is, why it’s done, and how it can benefit women’s health.

Last weekend, I decided to take a short break from the delivery suite and attend a concert — my little act of rebellion after weeks of night calls and clinic charts.
The atmosphere was electric: lights flashing, crowd roaring, bass thumping so hard I could feel it in my ribs. Then, suddenly, my Apple Watch vibrated and flashed:
“Environmental sound level: 90 dB. Thirty minutes at this level may cause temporary hearing loss.”
I looked around. The crowd didn’t seem to care — everyone was jumping and screaming.
But my “doctor brain” instantly woke up.
If I could feel the vibration in my chest, what about a pregnant lady standing here? Would those sound waves travel through her abdomen, past the muscles, uterus, and amniotic fluid… and reach the baby?
Would the fetus hear the bass like a private drum solo? Or would it be blissfully floating, lulled by the muffled rhythm?
That’s when the concert turned into a spontaneous obstetric thought experiment. I imagined a fetus doing a tiny somersault when the beat dropped — or maybe covering its microscopic ears in protest.
And of course, I couldn’t help recalling what research says: that prolonged loud noise (above 85–90 dB for hours) might affect fetal hearing, but an occasional concert is usually fine. Still, I mentally added: sit away from the speakers, wear musician’s earplugs, and let’s keep the baby’s rock concert brief.
So while everyone around me was shouting lyrics, I was quietly running decibel calculations in my head.
That’s the curse — or blessing — of being an obstetrician. Even at a concert, I’m thinking about fetuses.
When the encore came, I smiled.

Science says an occasional concert won’t hurt a baby — so long as the mother’s enjoying herself safely, that rhythm might even make both hearts beat a little happier.
