We were 'chlorine-free' last Saturday! It was a very insightful event. During this conference, our aquatic rehab instructor, Bashtiah, presented the topic, Swimming as Rehabilitation: A New Perspective. Pn Sarimah from IRenang also attended the conference, sharing a bit on her experience in teaching special needs children.

🎤🌟 Meet Our Speaker – Bashtiah Nahrul Khair!
We’re excited to welcome Bashtiah Nahrul Khair , founder of TIA Aquatic Rehabilitation.
A graduated from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) with a Bachelor in Sports Science (Hons). she holds the LSSM Lifesaving Certificate and International hydrotherapy certificates. She worked as swimming coach for private school and university

During her internship at the hydrotherapy department in Hospital Angkatan Tentera Kem Terendak, Melaka, she did research on their chronic low back pain patients and prescribed water exercises to the other patients of different conditions. Her final year thesis, ‘The Effects of Land and Aquatic Spinal Stabilization Training on the Management of Back Pain’ was chosen for the International Colloquium on Sports Science, Exercise, Engineering, and Technology (ICoSSEET 2014).

Her focus on learn to swim and water rehabilitation programs under IRenang saw her teaching various levels, from pre-school to special needs even corporate groups. The IRenang basic swimming module was featured in a local kid’s television show in 2017. she have been featured in Majalah Rapi, Mingguan Wanita, Majalah Dara, and Harian Metro to talk about both swimming and her works on water rehabilitation.
The growing numbers of water rehabilitation clients initiated her to start up TIA Aquatic Rehabilitation in 2020. In 2024, she hosted the first Malaysia Hydrotherapy Introductory Course.

At this event, she will share on Swimming as Rehab: A new perspective.
