After 2.5 years of therapy & learning at GREAT Academy, Maya can finally talk with us! 👧🏻✨

At home, she’s full of stories. But previously at school, she used to stay completely silent. Not a word, not even a whisper. She would look down, sometimes cry when meeting people, & hide when things got too loud. Now, she plays, laughs, & runs with her friends.

We’re not speech therapists or psychologists, just her teachers (& best friends obv🤝🏻), & been with her since day one. We started small, using gestures, simple “yes” or “no” responses, whispering to her ear (& sometimes shouting 😆), & most importantly, playing together. Slowly, very slowly, she started to speak.

Here’s a lil video of Maya proudly naming her friends & teachers. May she keep growing braver, using her voice to speak with everyone around her, even after we take our next step beyond GREAT Academy 😁❤️👍🏻
