This morning, I was pleased to attend the photo session in conjunction with the official opening of the new ingress (flyover) connecting The Light Waterfront Penang (from Bayan Lepas direction) along Lebuhraya Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu.

This new flyover represents another important step in improving traffic efficiency and urban mobility within the city. By providing a direct and safer access route to The Light Waterfront, it helps reduce congestion along the main highway, especially during peak hours, and enhances safety for motorists traveling in and out of the development.

Beyond easing traffic flow, this infrastructure also brings positive economic and social impacts — supporting surrounding businesses, improving accessibility for residents and visitors, and complementing ongoing development projects that contribute to Penang’s sustainable growth.

在光大开完会议回到选区办公室，

处理一些东西后就一个人拿着雨伞步行到附近的食肆，文华咖啡店，吃午餐。

这里是我常来的地方。

与咖啡店老板寒暄几句，叫了水，她却坚持不收钱。

去经济饭档口拿食物时，经济饭摊的老板和熟悉食客在我拿菜时，对我说，你瘦了很多！要多吃！

呵呵我陷入自我怀疑因为我的体重没减过😆

一边吃着熟悉的经济饭菜，一边听着隔壁桌的说话声，
闻着各种食物的香味，感受社区的温度。

吃着吃着，突然饺子档的老板为我端上了饺子，说他想请我吃，谢谢我对他们的支持。

还贴心的特别准备了纸袋让我拿回去吃。

接着又遇上居民，说起社区猴子的问题，我让她坐下，聊了一会儿，她也很有礼貌的说完就说不打扰我，让我好好吃。

我想，这个社区之所以美丽，是因为我们都会换位思考，设想着别人的感受，愿意聆听彼此，一起有同样的心要解决问题，一起看到了彼此的付出。

政治里好多烦心之事都好，来到人来人往的咖啡店，竟然在这里找到了难得的平静和温暖。

谢谢老板，谢谢我的居民。

你们真的很好。

🏓 Pickleball Fever Hits Island Glades!

Exciting news for our Seri Delima community! 🎉

The brand-new Pickle Lab is now officially open at Gembira Parade, Island Glades — featuring 6 air-conditioned indoor courts, open from 8 am till 2 am daily. Perfect for both early birds and night owls who just can’t get enough pickleball! 😄✨

During the launch, I also picked up a paddle and joined a friendly game — and guess what? I won 😜
(I hope they didn’t go easy on me and let me win haha)

What made the moment special wasn’t just the rally, but the laughter, energy, and community spirit that filled the court. 💚

Pickleball isn’t just a sport — it’s a bridge between generations, a place where friendships grow, and where healthy living feels like pure fun. 💪

Sukaneka kali ini bukan sekadar tentang siapa paling laju atau paling kuat — tetapi tentang 𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐚𝐧 𝐤𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐡 𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐠 yang menyatukan anak-anak Tabika Perpaduan dari pelbagai kaum dan latar belakang ❤️

Melihat anak-anak kecil berlari dengan penuh semangat, saya tersenyum sendiri — teringat zaman kanak-kanaknya dulu. Bezanya, dulu kalau jatuh masa sukaneka, bukan cikgu yang tolong, tapi kawan sebelah terus tarik tangan dan sama-sama ketawa dulu baru sambung lari! 😆💪
Momen begini yang mengingatkan kita, bahawa semangat tolong-menolong dan ketulusan masa kecil itulah yang patut kita kekalkan sampai dewasa.

𝐀 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭✨

For more than 30 years, the Island Glades pasar pagi has been part of daily life for the residents here.

It’s a place full of familiar faces, morning chatter, and the smell of fresh food. Many of the traders have been here for decades, rain or shine, working hard to earn a living for their families.

But for a long time, life wasn’t easy for them. Without proper licenses, they were considered illegal traders. Sometimes, MBPP officers would issue summonses. For some of them, that amount was more than what they earned in a day.

There were days they came to my office, worried and if there was any way we could help them continue doing business peacefully.

That was when I knew something had to change..

In March this year, we began planning a proper solution.

Throughout these months, my office team and MPKK Island Glades team went to the ground repeatedly, meeting the traders, listening to their concerns, and making sure everyone was comfortable with the new plan.

It wasn’t a short process.

It took about six months and involved many discussions with different departments to find the best way forward.

We understand that every time we introduce a new initiative, there will be some obstacles and challenges along the way. But we’ve managed to overcome them together through communication and coordination.

And now, everything finally came together. We’re proud to welcome our new and improved pasar pagi. The traders were officially recognized and licensed. They could now do business without fear of being chased away or summoned.

Besides, we also took the opportunity to improve the layout, widening the lanes and cleaning up the space so that customers could walk and shop more comfortably.

Now, the pasar pagi looks different. It is cleaner, more organized, and full of life. The traders are happier, and customers can shop in comfort.

And this is not the end. We still have more plans ahead to improve the area and make it even better for both traders and visitors!

If you were there, you’d probably notice there’s a ‘khaki colour vest gang’ doing their rounds — that’s my team, always on-site to make sure everything runs smoothly.

A big thank you to MBPP, MPKK Island Glades, and everyone who worked together to make this happen.

I welcome all to the Island Glades morning market, where you can get your fresh groceries, enjoy a good local breakfast, and soak in the friendly vibes of our community. It’s truly one of the little gems of Seri Delima! 🌟

It’s always lovely meeting residents! 🥰

Every day, we meet people from all walks of life. Some come to seek help, some just drop by to chat about the neighbourhood. But behind every conversation, there’s always a story.

One thing I truly appreciate is how reasonable and kind our residents are. Every now and then, we even receive DMs from residents who “brainstorm” with us on how to make Seri Delima a better place to live! 😆

My team and I often walk the ground, check on sites, and meet residents where they are. Not everything can be fixed right away, but we always do our best to follow through.

These little exchanges mean a lot — they remind us how much people care about our community. Every day brings new challenges, but also new reasons to keep serving — with patience, with heart, and with the belief that small steps still lead us forward. 💪

我们的服务中心每天都会遇到不同的人。有些人来寻求帮助，有些人只是来聊聊社区里的事。每一段对话，背后都有一个故事。

我一直很感激斯里德里玛居民的他们体谅、友善，也很合作。偶尔我们还会收到居民发来的讯息，一起“集思广益”，讨论怎么让社区变得更好。

我和团队常常走进社区，实地看看情况，也和居民面对面交流。虽然不是每件事都能马上解决，但我们都会尽力跟进，做到最好。

这些互动看似微小，却让我感受到大家对社区的关心。每天都有新的挑战，但我们把挑战当作动力，继续用心服务💪

‘𝐘𝐁, 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭’ — 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘦🛣️

A few months ago, I visited Taman Tun Sardon for an event.

After the event, I went around to chat with the residents, just to hear how they’re doing and see if there’s anything we can help with.

That’s when one of the aunties came to me and said she wished for a proper pavement, so she could walk home comfortably. And she actually walked me all the way to her house for a quick site visit 👀

Along the way, she told me that whenever it rains, the water would collect there, making it slippery and difficult for seniors to walk.

It might sound like a small thing, but for her and for many of our seniors, it really affects their daily comfort and safety.

I promised to help — and now, the new pavement is ready! 🤩

Now the path is smooth and safe. I truly hope our seniors can walk home more comfortably and live safely every day.

And most importantly, I hope auntie is happy now! 😆🫶🏻

几个月前，我到敦沙顿出席一个活动。

活动结束后，我留下来和居民聊聊天，听听他们的近况，也看看有没有什么地方我们可以帮上忙。

有一位阿姨走过来，她希望这里能有一条平整、好走的人行道，这样走回家就更安全。她还亲自带我走去她家，让我“实地考察” 👀

路上她跟我说，每一次下雨天，原本的草地都会积水，又滑，长者走起来很危险。

听起来好像只是小事，但对她，还有对很多长者来说，却是关系到每天的舒适与安全。

我答应她会帮忙改善。现在，新的人行道已经完工了！🤩

路面已经变得平整，希望长者们每天都能走得更安心。

最重要的是，我希望阿姨现在也很开心！😆🫶🏻

𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐢 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚 庆祝屠妖节🪔✨

Last week, we had an amazing time celebrating our Seri Delima Deepavali Open House at Lengkok Bawah!

It has truly become our tradition. A time when neighbours, friends, and families come together to share food, laughter, and joy.

This year, we celebrated with over 500 residents, with non-stop performances and delicious food prepared with so much love.

What touched me most was seeing not only our Indian friends, but also Malay and Chinese residents coming together to celebrate. That beautiful mix of colours, smiles, and unity — that’s the true spirit of Malaysia. ❤️

On the same day, YB Ramkarpal Singh and I also officiated the new MPKK Lengkok Bawah Container, which now serves as their ‘service centre’. With this new space, the MPKK team can have meetings, coordinate community programs, and serve residents more comfortably.

Vanakkam and thank you to YB Ramkarpal Singh, MPKK Lengkok Bawah, and every resident who came together to make this celebration so meaningful.

Nights like this remind us how special our Seri Delima community truly is — diverse, caring, and always connected. 🌙💫

上个星期，我们在 Lengkok Bawah 举办了 Seri Delima 屠妖节开放门户，和居民们一起度过了一个热闹又温馨的夜晚。

屠妖节开放门户已经成为斯里德里玛的传统。每一年，大家都会聚在这里一起吃美食、看表演、聊聊天，让社区更加靠近。

今年有超过 500 位居民出席，现场气氛非常热闹，表演一场接一场，笑声不断。

我特别开心看到，不只是印度朋友，还有各个种族的居民也一起来庆祝。不分种族，大家一起庆祝节日，这就是马来西亚最美的地方❤️

当天，我和 YB Ramkarpal Singh 也一起为 MPKK Lengkok Bawah 的社区中心主持开幕。有了这个小空间，他们可以更方便地开会、筹备活动，也能更贴近居民的需要。

谢谢 YB Ramkarpal Singh、MPKK Lengkok Bawah 团队，还有每一位出席的居民。因为大家的参与，这场庆祝变得更有意义，也让 Seri Delima 的社区精神更加鲜明✨

三十年的香火与温情 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐭𝐡

今天是九皇大帝吃素的第八天。

日前，我特意到访本区Jalan Gangsa 红土山九皇大帝香坛及素食档口与当地居民一起吃素、聊聊天。空气里弥漫着素食的香气，大家围坐在一起，有说有笑。

我也认识了坛主王莲花女士-Madam Ong。

三十年前，她和家人凭着一份缘分，在这里建立了斗姥宫，膜拜“老姆嬷”-斗母娘娘的母亲，九皇大帝的婆婆，一句话，道出了这段信仰的根源与温情。

每年农历九月，王女士及志工们都会在红土山Jalan Gangsa那设摊，随缘乐捐派发素食。

所有的素食都是志工用心准备的。就算经费有限，他们仍坚持要让每一位前来的人，都能吃上一口温暖的饭菜。

王女士是一名伟大的单亲妈妈，靠着自己的手艺，把几个孩子拉拔长大。听着她的故事，我心里充满敬意-她是一位了不起的女人。

这些年来，每逢九皇大帝素期，大家自然会聚在这里——吃饭、打招呼、聊天、分享近况。

这样的画面，让人觉得——
信仰不只是供奉与仪式，更是一种人与人之间温柔的连结，一种让社区更有温度的力量。💛

Today is the eighth day of the Nine Emperor Gods vegetarian festival.

Yesterday, I visited the Jalan Gangsa Nine Emperor Gods altar and its vegetarian stall to have a meal and chat with local residents. The air was filled with the aroma of vegetarian food, and everyone sat together, talking and laughing.

I also met the altar caretaker, Madam Ong.

Thirty years ago, she and her family built the Dou Mu Gong here out of faith and fate. The temple is dedicated to Dou Mu Niang Niang, the mother of the Nine Emperor Gods’ grandmother. In just one sentence, she expressed the roots and tenderness of this belief.

Every year in the ninth lunar month, Madam Ong and her volunteers set up stalls along Jalan Gangsa to share vegetarian food through voluntary contributions.

All the food is lovingly prepared by the volunteers. Even when funds are limited, they insist that everyone who comes can still have a warm, comforting meal.

Madam Ong is a strong single mother who raised her children through her own skills and hard work. Listening to her story filled me with deep respect. She is truly an inspiring woman.

Over the years, during this vegetarian season, people naturally gather here to eat, greet one another, chat, and share about life.

Scenes like this remind us that faith is not just about worship or rituals. It is about the gentle bonds between people, a warmth that keeps our community connected. 💛

𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐇𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡👩🏼💪

Last week, I had the honour of joining the EmpowerHer Penang Chapter Launch, an inspiring initiative by E3 Empowers that celebrates women who lead, create, and uplift others.

As the State Assemblyperson for Seri Delima and a Board Member of the Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC), I’ve had the privilege of meeting many incredible women from different walks of life across Penang. Each of them reminds me that leadership is never a journey we walk alone.

In my sharing that day, I spoke about how we all need three groups of people in our lives — 𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 who guide us, 𝙥𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙨 who grow with us, and 𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙚𝙨 who remind us to give back. Behind every strong woman is a circle of other strong women — those who inspire, support and remind us why we started in the first place.

There’s a quote I often share: “𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝘾 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝘽 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘿,” meaning that life is all about the 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 we make between 𝙗𝙞𝙧𝙩𝙝 and 𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝. And it makes me so glad to see so many women choosing to be part of EmpowerHer — choosing to connect, to learn, to share, and to lift each other up! ✨

上周我很荣幸受邀参加EmpowerHer Penang Chapter Launch。这项由 E3 Empowers 推动的计划，让来自不同背景的女性聚在一起，互相学习、支持和成长。

作为斯里德里玛州议员和槟城妇女发展机构（PWDC） 的一份子，我有机会认识很多优秀的女性。她们也让我明白，领导的路，从来不是一个人能走完的旅程。

在我的演讲中，我分享了自己的一点体会：人生中，我们都需要三种人——指导我们的导师、和我们一起成长的伙伴，还有提醒我们回馈的后辈。我们的身边总会人在拉你一把、给你力量。

我也和大家分享了一句我很喜欢的名言：“Life is C between B and D”，意思是人生是在「出生」和「死亡」之间，由我们做的「选择」决定的。而我很开心看到这么多女性选择来到这个活动一起学习、交流、互相扶持。
