WORLD DIABETES DAY ๐ข๐ข๐ข
Today, 14 November is observed annually as World Diabetes Day to raise awareness on diabetes and it's complications, as well as it's prevention, and management strategies.
Malaysia now has the highest diabetes rate in South-East Asia ๐ฎ
We need to tackle this diabetes epidemic now before it gets worse!
Too much glucose (sugar) circulating in our blood causes diabetes. If diabetes is not controlled, it could lead to complications such as stroke, heart disease, blindness and even kidney damage.
Many people don't know that they have diabetes. Thus, regular screening tests for diabetes is needed, especially for those who are obese and have a family history of diabetes.
To manage diabetes, adopt a healthy lifestyle of eating less sugar and other processed high carbohydrate foods, maintain a healthy weight, exercise regularly, reduce stress and get enough rest and sleep.
