Pulmonology Department, Sultan Idris Shah Serdang Hospital Serdang Pulmonology was established on 1.11.11.
It's the National referral centre for complex cases and advanced services including lung transplantation. We provide the full range of respiratory services for inpatient and outpatient care. At Serdang, pulmonologists from the Ministry of Health and Hospital Pengajar Universiti Putra Malaysia (HPUPM) work as one team. As part of our policy, patients with suspected lung cancer will be seen as a matter of urgency and given high priority. It's a training centre for the National respiratory medicine fellowship program. Currently, the consultants are Dr Jamalul Azizi Abdul Rahaman, Dr Mona Zaria Nasaruddin, Dr Noorul Afidza Muhammad, Dr Ummi Nadira Daut (HPUPM), Dr Lee Chiou Perng and Dr Leong Swee Wei.

π¬οΈ Advanced Lung Disease Course 2025 β A Great Success!π¬οΈ
The Pulmonology team of Hospital Sultan Idris Shah, Serdang has successfully organized the Advanced Lung Disease Course, attended by nearly 200 participants, speakers, vendors, and committee members! π
The two-day event was filled with energy and enthusiasm β from insightful lectures to lively discussions and hands-on workshops. Participants showed incredible engagement throughout, reflecting the growing passion for advancing care in respiratory medicine. πͺ
We were privileged to learn from expert speakers in their respective subspecialty areas β Pulmonary Hypertension, Interstitial Lung Disease, Lung Transplantation, Interventional Pulmonology, and Severe Asthma β each sharing valuable knowledge and real-world experience.
This course was designed to share knowledge and foster collaboration in managing complex and advanced respiratory diseases β and it truly delivered on that goal.
A heartfelt thank you to all participants and speakers for being part of this meaningful event. π

The Department of Pulmonology, Serdang Hospital started as a Respiratory Unit on 1.11.11 as a new service under the General Medical Department. It is also known as "SERDANG PULMONOLOGY". SERDANG PULMONOLOGY provides the full range of respiratory services for inpatient and outpatient care in Klang Valley.
At Serdang, pulmonologists (chest physicians) from the Ministry of Health (MOH), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) work as one team. As part of our policy, patients with suspected lung cancer will be seen as a matter of urgency and given high priority.
We provide general respiratory work as well as highly subspecialised work including interventional pulmonology, pulmonary physiology, sleep, ILD, pulmonary hypertension and lung transplant. It's also an accredited training centre for the National Pulmonology fellowship.
Following the expansion of services, the Unit was upgraded to a full department on July 2018.
