💙Integrated Care for Healing
Mrs. Chai (name changed for privacy) was admitted to UTAR Hospital’s Medical Centre after showing signs of a right pontine ischemic stroke. In addition to this condition, she also faced several other health challenges.
Upon admission, Mrs. Chai was completely unable to move her upper and lower limbs,
had very weak muscle strength, and struggled to sit upright due to poor balance.
Recognizing her condition, the clinical team designed a comprehensive rehabilitation
plan, combining Acupuncture therapy at the T&CM Centre with physiotherapy at the
Medical Centre. Both her Chinese medicine practitioner and medical doctor closely
monitored her progress, ensuring she received well-rounded care.
Mdm Chai and her husband have no children, but she receives support from her siblings and a nephew, who is especially close to her. Due to her husband’s inability to care for her at home, he requested that she remained in the hospital until she regained some mobility and independence.
After more than four months of intensive treatment, Mrs. Chai showed remarkable
improvement. Upon discharge, her muscle strength in the left upper and lower limbs had improved significantly. She was now able to walk steadily with the aid of a walking frame and even take short steps without assistance.
Since November 2024, the Welfare Fund has supported a portion of her medical expenses, helping to ease the financial burden on her family. On January 2, 2025, she was officially discharged, leaving the hospital with hope for continued recovery.
Mrs. Chai’s story highlights how integrated medical care—combining modern physiotherapy with traditional Chinese acupuncture and medicine—along with welfare support, plays a vital role in helping patients regain their independence after life-altering health conditions.

蔡女士（化名以保护隐私）因出现右侧桥脑缺血性中风的症状，被收入拉曼大学医院医疗中心。除了这一病症，她还面临其他多项健康挑战。
入院时，蔡女士完全无法移动上下肢，肌肉力量非常虚弱，且因平衡能力差而难以坐直。医疗团队认识到她的状况，制定了㇐项全面的康复计划，将传统与辅助医学中心的针灸治疗与医疗中心的物理治疗相结合。她的中医师和西医医生密切监测她的进展，确保她得到全方位的护理。
蔡女士和丈夫没有子女，但她得到了兄弟姐妹和一位特别亲近的侄子的支持。由于她的丈夫无法在家照顾她，他请求让她留在医院，直到她恢复一定的行动能力和独立性。经过四个多月的集中治疗，蔡女士的病情显著改善。出院时，她的左上肢和下肢肌肉力量明显增强。她现在能够借助助行器稳步行走，甚至可以在无人协助的情况下短距离行走。
自2024年11月起，福利基金承担了她部分医疗费用，帮助减轻了家庭的经济负担。
2025年1月2日，她正式出院，带着对持续康复的希望离开了医院。
