Title: Biodegradable Materials with Disulfide-Bridged- Framework Confine Photosensitizers for Enhanced Photo-Immunotherapy (Li et al., 2021)

Summary: When paired with Programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) checkpoint inhibition, SSNs@Ce6-mediated photodynamic therapy (PDT) totally eliminated 4T1 tumors. Overall, confining photosensitizers in a biodegradable disulfide-bridged framework appears to be a promising technique for unleashing photosensitizers' potential in PDT, particularly in combination cancer photo-immunotherapy.

Title: Upregulation of TMEM45A Promoted the Progression of Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma in vitro (Jiang et al., 2021)

Summary: The most prevalent and dangerous type of primary kidney cancer in the world is clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Transmembrane protein 45A (TMEM45A) was shown to be considerably overexpressed in patients with ccRCC and resulting in poor overall and disease-free survival, poor mortality, and linked to a variety of clinicopathological criteria such as histological grade and TNM stage thus acts as a tumor promoter. Hence, it could be a viable prognostic marker and therapeutic target.

Title: Nanoindentation and nano scratch investigations on graphene-based nanocomposites (Shokrieh et al., 2012)

Summary: The effect of graphene nano-platelets (GNPs) on the mechanical properties of polymer nanocomposites was investigated using nanoindentation and nano scratch methods. Using a typical Berkovich indenter at three different normal loads of 400, 600, and 800 mN with the addition of 0.05 wt% GNP, both elastic modulus and hardness increased by 83%. A nano scratch test combined with atomic force microscopy (AFM) was used to evaluate the tribological behavior of nanocomposites showed reduced pile-up and high wear resistance.

TITLE: Nano-copper-bearing stainless steel promotes fracture healing by accelerating the callus evolution process (Wang et al., 2017)

Nano-copper-bearing stainless steel (317L-Cu SS) increase Cu2+ content which upregulated the LOX activity and promote osteogenesis in the callus. 317L-Cu SS quickens the callus growth process and formation of bone to yield better fracture healing. 317L-Cu SS also has the potential for orthopedic diseases treatment such as a fracture.

TITLE: A self-illuminating nanoparticle for inflammation imaging and cancer therapy (Xu et al., 2019)

The self-illuminating nanoparticle is an amphiphilic luminescent polymer for inflammation imaging and cancer therapy. The CLP nanoparticles are not toxic in healthy mice as the mice behaved normally after CLP nanoparticles injection at either 65 or 130 mg/kg of Ce6.

Title: Proteomics of Streptococcus mutans to Reveal the Antibiofilm Formation Mechanism of Ag/ZnO Nanocomposites with Light-Emitting Diode Radiation (Jiang et al., 2021)

Summary: Synergistic therapy happens when the combined effect of two or more treatments is better than the total of the effects seen when each agent is given alone. This therapy able to destroyed the majority of bacteria such as Streptococcus mutans and prevented the remaining bacteria from developing biofilms. Proteomics investigation of S. mutans after synergistic therapy and subsequent metabolic studies revealed the mechanism of antibiofilm development on sucrose metabolism and D-alanine metabolism.

Title: miR-1306 Promotes Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma Progression and Predicts Clinical Prognosis of Patients. (Li et al., 2021)

Summary: Identification of novel biomarkers (miR-1306) of the development of LUSC could provide the basis for clinical treatment and improve a patient’s prognosis. The tumor promoter role of miR-1306 in LUSC and the regulatory effect of miR-1306 on RBM3 were speculated to be the potential mechanism for the prognostic value of miR-1306 in the development of LUSC.

Title: Enhanced Bone Remodelling Effects of Low-Modulus Ti−5Zr−3Sn−5Mo−25Nb Alloy Implanted in the Mandible of Beagle Dogs under Delayed Loading (Hu et al., 2019).

Summary: The Ti−5Zr−3Sn−5Mo−25Nb (TLM) alloy group showed a considerable increase in the proportion of bone-implant interface contact, the bone inside the thread, mineralization, crystallinity, modulus of elasticity, and hardness of the integrated bone after delayed loading. The outcome is desirable for biomechanical compatibility especially in stress conditions resulted in desirable biomechanical compatibility, particularly when subjected to applied stress.

TITLE: cumin-loaded electrospun PHBV nanofibers as potential wound dressing material (Mutlu et al., 2018)

Curcumin-loaded PHBV nanofibers with high curcumin concentration, 25 µmol/L, increased the cell attachment and proliferation thus being suitable for a wound-dressing material. Moreover, PHBV/Cur nanofibers were not toxic to L929 mouse fibroblasts in the MTT assay test and were biodegradable under enzymatic conditions.

TITLE: Cordycepin Nano-encapsulated in Poly (Lactic-Co-Glycolic Acid) Exhibits Better Cytotoxicity and Lower Hemotoxicity Than Free Drug (Marslin et al., 2020)

Cordycepin-loaded PLGA nanoparticles (CPNPs) are an encapsulated drug for cancer treatment. CPNPs exhibited a high level of cellular uptake and cytotoxicity 3 times lower than the free drug in MCF-7 cells. This CPNP was also able to release the encapsulated cordycepin sustainably over 10 days for great effect.

TITLE: Nobiletin-loaded micelles reduce ovariectomy-induced bone loss by suppressing osteoclastogenesis (Wang et al., 2019)
At high concentrations of 50 μM, Nobiletin-loaded micelles (NOB-PEG-PCL) micelles showed improved biocompatibility relative to nobiletin by 55 % and did not yield cytotoxicity in bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMMs). NOB-PEG-PCL may be a suitable delivery method for osteoporosis prevention and treatment.

TITLE: Supercritical carbon dioxide-developed silk fibroin nanoplatforms for smart colon cancer therapy (Xie et al., 2017)

Curcumin–silk fibroin nanoparticles can be used as a promising colon cancer therapy due to the improved inhibition effect on colon cancer cells, HCT116 by 94 % compared to 5-Fu. The anticancer mechanism includes a cell-cycle arrest in the G0 /G1 and G2 /M phases lead to apoptosis.
