Contact lens ni nampak macam benda kecil. Tapi bila kita ambil mudah, mata yang kena bayar harga.

Ini 3 ayat yang selalu buat orang salah faham.

1. “Tak apa, kejap je.”
Masalahnya, mata tak kira “kejap”. Bila lens dipakai lebih lama daripada waktu yang sepatutnya, oksigen ke kornea berkurang. Mata jadi kering, pedih, merah, dan lebih mudah iritasi.

2. “Saya dah biasa, tak rasa sakit pun.”
Mata boleh jadi kebas pada rasa pedih bila anda selalu paksa. Itu bukan tanda selamat. Itu tanda anda dah terbiasa dengan iritasi. Dan bila jangkitan datang, ia boleh jadi cepat dan serius.

3. “Saya cuci dengan air biasa je, bersih juga.”
Air paip bukan larutan pembersih lens. Ia boleh bawa kuman yang anda tak nampak. Ini antara punca keradangan dan jangkitan mata yang orang selalu tak sangka.

Kalau anda pakai lens, cuba pegang 4 perkara ni:
Pastikan tangan bersih sebelum sentuh lens.
Jangan tidur dengan lens kecuali memang jenis yang dibenarkan dan anda sudah dapat nasihat profesional.
Guna larutan lens yang betul dan tukar ikut jadual.
Kalau mata merah, pedih, sensitif cahaya, berair sangat, atau penglihatan kabur, hentikan pakai lens dan dapatkan pemeriksaan.
