“Doctor, is my child’s cough due to TB?” 😟
It’s a common concern among parents — but here’s an important reassurance: most coughs in children are NOT TB. They’re usually caused by viral infections that improve with time.
TB in children presents differently and often involves longer-lasting symptoms and close, prolonged contact with someone who has active TB — not just brief exposure in public.
👀 What to watch for:
• Cough lasting more than 2 weeks
• Prolonged fever
• Weight loss or poor weight gain
• Night sweats
• Close contact with someone with TB
💡 If your child has a short cough, runny nose, and is improving — it’s most likely a viral infection.
✨ Stay informed, not alarmed.
If symptoms persist or you’re worried, do get your child checked for proper assessment and reassurance.
