IMPORTANT FAREWELL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM FARAH

In 2021, after years of training professionals in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy across Malaysia, I envisioned something more: a centre to support the growth of ACT in our region. That vision became ACT Kuala Lumpur, or ACTKL, which I fully funded and helped establish.

ACTKL was built from my value of contribution to society. Its mission was to establish ACT in the region. I now believe that mission has been accomplished.

Recently, the name and logos of ACTKL were successfully registered under trademark, and a business takeover was attempted. This was not foreseen, and I was caught off-guard.

I have done nothing wrong legally, and have now removed all content with ACTKL logos from public view. I am in a strong legal position to challenge these actions and pursue formal remedies, including police reports. However, those would not reflect my personal values. My values have always been generosity and integrity. These remain unchanged.

There are many ways to let someone know they are no longer needed, but this has got to be the best way. Therefore, I choose to step away gracefully and peacefully.

Thank you for the years of support, trust, and community. I leave with gratitude and a full heart.

Based on how this company’s value has been perceived, my mission has been fulfilled.

If you wish to contact me, my email is farah@forepsych.com.au. I will be removing myself from the ACTKL social media platforms shortly.

Goodbye, ACTKL.
And goodbye, Malaysia.
Until we meet again.

Farah Gulamoydeen

A bit of a late post, but the ACT Advanced+ 2024 workshop was a great success! We had 24 eager-to-learn and willing-to-be-vulnerable ACT practitioners join this amazing workshop, with many traveling from different parts of the Peninsular to attend in person. It’s always a plus to have psychiatrists in the mix too!

I’m honored to be part of their ACT journey and look forward to continuing to support them (they're doing group supervision together now :)

Malaysia is truly fortunate to have such dedicated and highly trained ACT practitioners.

If you’re keen to grow as an ACT practitioner, ACTKL is here to help you take the next step.

Our ACT colleague Poh Gan is running a FREE webinar for therapists tomorrow on burnout! Don’t miss this incredible opportunity! (Recording is available)

Here’s what Poh has to say:

Are you ready for a reset and renewal of energy?

If you are a therapist/ health care professional spreading too thin in every direction for work, family and relationships, juggling and having too much on your plate, time to pause and check in for an energy audit!

If you have been trying different ways to strike a work-life balance between being a therapist, a carer, a parent or multiple roles that you play and yet you know deep down that things are not working so well and your reservoir of energy is depleted, time to try something different!

Join me and other therapists as I share proven energy management strategies based on lived experience, science-backed performance psychology, neuroscience and spirituality.

This 90-minute webinar is packed with tried and tested strategies specifically tailored by therapists for therapists, with an experiential exercise!

There will be an emphasis on ways you can incorporate spiritual energy to support you to be physically energized, emotionally connected, mentally focused and spiritually aligned to lead a busy yet grounded and fulfilling life!

Time to opt out of survival mode!

Time to say YES for you to thrive and blossom!

https://blossomingtrueself.com.au/webinar

The idea behind the webinar is ACT consistent because I am targeting emotional avoidance, defusion and disconnection from values and purpose. I will share energy management strategies and support development of present-moment awareness and openness to experience. And connection to values, taking actions to reconnect with their purpose and why.

**ACTKL is not the organiser, please contact The Blossoming Therapists for more info and registration

🎉 Exciting News! 🎉

We're thrilled to announce that we've just wrapped up our webinar on "ACT for Sexual Issues" by the amazing Andrea Koh, and it was a resounding success! Andrea shared invaluable insights from her wealth of experience in this area, highlighting how Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can be a powerful tool in addressing sexual issues.

One of the most rewarding outcomes was seeing participants' willingness to discuss sexual issues with clients increase by the end of the webinar, a testament to the impact of Andrea's expertise and the effectiveness of ACT in this context. (See poll results in photos - one was at the start of the webinar and second was at the end)

Feedback was highly encouraging as well and this can be viewed in the photos in this post (swipe to view)

If you missed out or would like a re-run of this insightful webinar, click on the link below to register your interest. Don't miss this opportunity to delve deeper into ACT for Sexual Issues with Andrea Koh! Plus, if there's enough demand, we'll consider developing a full-day workshop.

Farah Gulamoydeen - Director, ACT Kuala Lumpur, Forepsych Pty Ltd. Australia
BA (Psych), BBusMan, MClinPsy, MAPS

Farah is a clinical psychology graduate and registered psychologist in Australia. She was an executive board member of the Australian and New Zealand chapter of the ACBS for 3 years. Farah is a highly-trained ACT practitioner having attended ACT training at the introductory, advanced and masterclass level as well as specialised topics within ACT. She has attended a number of ACBS world and chapter conferences and continues her professional development in ACT by attending multiple workshops and webinars every year.

ACT for Farah is not just a useful approach in helping clients but also a way of living - being congruent inside and outside the therapy room as an ACT practitioner is important to her. ACT has helped Farah find meaning and purpose in living and also accepting that life is about experiencing the full spectrum of emotions.

As a supervisor, Farah uses the SHAPE, an ACT-based supervision approach. It involves both parties (supervisor and supervisees) being open about their values in supervision. Supervision sessions often will include role-play or real-play alongside discussion and support for cases presented.

As a trainer, Farah is energetic, passionate, and concise. Her workshops are carefully structured and keeping to time is priority. As Farah is a visual learner, she often teaches visually using diagrams and flowcharts. She has trained almost 200 mental health professionals including psychiatrists, counsellors, and clinical psychologists, many of whom have gone on to supervise in ACT as well as conduct ACT trainings.

Farah also delivers ACT-informed workshops for the public and corporate sector. Content is in simple and accessible language and is based entirely on the psychological flexibility model.

If you would like to work with Farah, you will find her efficient, meticulous, and may have out-of-the-box ideas. To discuss training opportunities, contact her at contact@actkualalumpur.com You will receive her trainer profile and CV. Feedback from previous workshops are available upon request.
