Shocked and stressed more than excited.

Just discover that APSDA has many giants and big figures from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, India, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and Malaysia (Prof Goh Bak Leong). They are not only famous among the nephrologists and the INs, they are famous amongst the vascular surgeons and IRs as well.

3 were my direct Sifus (Dr Takashi Sato, Dr Tan Ru Yu, Dr Pang Suh Chien). I think I am the youngest of all.

I do hope my 2 talks meet your expectations mahaguru-mahaguruku~ 🙇🏻‍♂️🥶

QiD LEAD: ‘Akses Vaskular - mengesan masalah awal’ adalah topik yang diberikan. Pengesanan disfungsi akses awal adalah topik yang sangat dekat dengan hati saya. Kita harus mendidik dan memperkasakan pemimpin dan barisan pertama kanulator akses dialisis. Pengesanan awal disfungsi avf/avg adalah kunci dalam mencegah kehilangan akses, morbiditi dan kematian. Terima kasih atas jemputan baik anda dan berharap ini dapat memberi inspirasi kepada para pemimpin untuk memperkasakan seluruh pasukan mereka. Saya mendapat perhatian bahawa kebanyakan hadirin sekalian adalah ketua dan pengurus pusat HD.

QiD LEAD: ‘Vascular Access - detecting early problems’ was the topic given.

Early access dysfunction detection is a topic very close to my heart. We should educate and empower the leaders and first liners of the dialysis access cannulators.

Early detection of an avf/avg dysfunction is the key in preventing access lost, morbidity and mortaliy.

Thank you for your kind invite and hope this may inspire the leaders to empower the rest of their team. It came to my attention that most of the audiences are the HD centre leader and managers.

🌟11. Manila card sebenarnya berasal daripada Manila, Phillipines dari pokok Manila H**p (abacá leaves)✨

🇲🇾🫱🏼‍🫲🏾🇵🇭 Saya amat berbesar hati kerana dapat berkongsi perspektif saya sebagai Pakar Nefrologi Intervensi dalam Persatuan Kateterisasi dan Intervensi Kardiovaskular Phillipines (PSCCI) 2026 kepada kebanyakan Pakar Kardiologi Intervensi mengenai denervasi saraf buah pinggang bagi pesakit CKD dan pesakit berisiko kardiovaskular tinggi. Ia adalah perspektif yang berlainan yang saya harapkan kepada IC kerana pendekatan IN adalah berbeza.

Denervasi buah pinggang digunakan untuk merawat hipertensi yang degil dan kini terdapat indikasi untuk pesakit hipertensi yang tidak terkawal + risiko kardiovaskular yang tinggi.

Saya amat gembira bertemu kembali 2 pakar kardiologi tempatan terdahulu yang kami temui sebelum ini di Malaysia dalam program berlainan dan bertemu dengan pakar bedah vaskular daripada alumni SGH yang sama. Walau bagaimanapun, saya terlepas untuk bertemu dengan seorang pakar kardiologi intervensi tempatan yang merupakan KOL Filipina.

Sebenarnya PPUM merupakan salah satu institusi denervasi di Malaysia. Kepada pesakit dimana tekanan darah > 140/90mmHg (dan bergantung kepada 3 ubat antihypertensi dan keatas, termasuk kelas diuretic; atau kurang daripada 3 ubat antihypertensi dengan faktor risiko kardiovaskular yang tinggi) bolehlah anda disaring untuk kelayakan/indikasi RDN. Kami terdapat sepasukan team RDN terdiri daripada pakar-pakar hypertensi multidisiplinari yang dipimpin oleh Dr Beh Hooi Chin (Pakar Perunding Keluarga dan Hypertensi) di RUKA PPUM.

Penurunan tekanan darah sistolik sebanyak 10mmHg boleh mengurangkan risiko complikasi kardiovaskular sebanyak 20% dan kematian sebanyak 13%.

🇲🇾🫱🏼‍🫲🏾🇵🇭 My great honour to be able to share my perspective as an Interventional Nephrologist in the Phillipines Society of Cardiovascular Catheterization and Intervention (PSCCI) 2026 to most of the Interventional Cardiologists from all edges of the Phillipines on Renal Denervation for patients with CKD and high cardiovascular risk patients. It was a good perspective I hope to the ICs as the IN approach differently.

Renal denervation is used to treat resistant hypertension and currently indicated in patient with uncontrolled hypertension + high cardiovascular risk.

I am really glad to meet back previous 2 local cardiologists whom we met before in Malaysia in a workshop and bump into a vascular surgeon from same SGH alumni. However, missed to meet up one local interventional cardiologist who is the KOL of the Phillipines.

PPUM is actually one of the denervation institutions in Malaysia. For patients whose blood pressure is > 140/90mmHg (and dependent on 3 antihypertensive drugs and above, including diuretic class; or less than 3 antihypertensive drugs with high cardiovascular risk factors) you can be screened for RDN eligibility/indication. We have a team of RDN consisting of multidisciplinary hypertension experts led by Dr Beh Hooi Chin (Family and Hypertension Consultant) at RUKA PPUM. A decrease in systolic blood pressure of 10mmHg can reduce the risk of cardiovascular events by 20% and desth by 13%
