After being diagnosed with limited-stage 4 prostate cancer, a 70-year-old man from Klang began treatment with targeted therapy.
He responded well, with only residual cancer remaining in the prostate. To improve local control, he was then recommended radiotherapy using Varian ETHOS Therapy, Malaysia’s first advanced online adaptive radiotherapy.
What is ETHOS Therapy?
ETHOS is an adaptive radiotherapy system that allows doctors to adjust each treatment session in real time based on the patient’s anatomy on that day.

“Because these organs can move daily, adaptive planning allows us to adjust treatment based on what we see each day,” explains Consultant Clinical Oncologist, Dr Malwinder. “With ETHOS, we can re-plan more efficiently without interrupting the patient’s session.”
This makes the overall treatment process more seamless, without the need to wait for bladder or bowel preparation before continuing.
