High median nerve injuries are not common, but cause significant morbidity when it occurs. I was given the opportunity to share our experience in managing such a case to the ASEAN Orthopaedic Community through the ASEAN Orthopaedic Association (AOA) Webinar co-organised with the Malaysian Orthopaedic Association .official.ig in January 2022.

The AOA had organised several webinars throughout 2022, hosted by different member countries. This AOA webinar book is a collection of selected presentations that were transcribed.

In the presentation I shared an injury to the which occured at the level of the axilla. The practice of nerve repair and grafting only would have taken about 2 years for the proximal nerve end to regenerate and reach the targeted muscle groups (this does not take into consideration the motor end plates degenerating which occurs after a year). Fortunately, was also performed for this patient and she started recovery of thumb and index finger flexion as early as 6-months.
