There is no direct translation for the term, says Bob Kee, sole proprietor and primary therapist of The Reiki Refuge. “‘Gua’ means to scrape or rub vigorously, and ‘sha’ refers to Qi (vital energy or life force) and blood stasis.”

According to Kee, this natural and non-invasive approach to the beauty regimen does live up to its big claims.

“Gua sha is traditionally used to expel toxins from the body, improve blood circulation, relieve pain, reduce inflammation, as well as stimulate the body’s auto-immune system,” he tells FMT.

“All of these things help fight signs of ageing and produce the results that many people are looking for, such as pronounced cheekbones and a sharper jawline.”

TikTok, the breeding ground for new beauty trends, is now making way for the not-so-new cousin of the facial roller.

This is the COVID-19 vaccination advisory published by Singapore's Ministry of Health.

So far the only vaccine in use worldwide that has resulted in some atypical reactions and has temporarily been suspended in some jurisdictions is the Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccine.

Note that you are still able to take the vaccine even if you are on TCM medication.

Alien and non-alien residents of Malaysia can register for the vaccination using the MySejahtera app.

After the 3 month disruption caused by the second MCO lockdown, we are finally resuming scheduled in-person Reiki training classes.

A Reiki Level 2 is the minimum requirement to practice Reiki professionally in many jurisdictions, but Reiki can also be practiced as a spiritual formation exercise for self edification and healing.

What Is Guasha Massage? 什么是刮痧疗法?

Guasha massage is a natural, complementary therapy that involves stroking the skin in a particular sequence to improve circulation. This traditional Chinese healing technique offers a unique approach to better health, addressing issues like chronic pain.

Guasha massage is intended to address stagnant energy, called Qi, in the body that in TCM theory is responsible for inflammation. Inflammation is the underlying cause of several conditions associated with chronic pain as well as disease. Guasha is able to help break up this energy, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.

What Can Guasha Massage Treat?

Guasha massage can reduce inflammation, so it’s often used to treat ailments that cause chronic pain, such as arthritis and fibromyalgia, as well as those that trigger muscle and joint pain.
