Lao Gong PC8 (劳宫) also known as the "Palace of Toil" is the 8th point of the Heart meridian. This is a key point for healing work and qi gong practice, and is stimulated to ease anxiety and clear inflammation.

It is located where the tip of your middle finger touches your palm when you make a fist. Between 2nd and 3rd metacarpal bones.

Close your eyes and gently rub your palms together until a warm or tingling sensation is felt.💕

HIVES/URTICARIA,(荨麻疹) Commonly known as hives, is defined as a kind of skin rash notable for pale red, itchy bumps caused by allergic reactions to internal and external agents. This skin condition is characterised by wheals (reddish swellings) or itching that occurs almost daily for more than six weeks.

It comes and goes on various parts of the body and can be triggered by an allergic reaction to food, drugs, infections or stress.

In Chinese medicine, this condition can arise when :

1.The lungs, intestines, stomach, liver and kidneys are deficient. The skin is a reflection of the lungs. If your lungs are not working well, your skin becomes unhealthy, itchy and dry. One factor that can cause the lungs to malfunction is ageing.

2. A lack of qi (vital energy), blood and yin (the element that cools organs), poor blood circulation or blood stasis.Elderly people with general weakness and chronic diseases may also be unable to produce sufficient qi and blood to nourish the skin.

3. Pathogenic factors, such as wind, heat, cold, dryness and dampness.Wind and heat, on the other hand, may trigger angry and red "heat hives"; map-like patches that have a burning sensation. . WHAT CAN YOU DO?

1.Take herbal remedies, acupuncture and cupping.

2. Avoid temperature changes, wind, heat and cold.

3. Reduce stress levels and improve blood circulation by doing light exercises such as brisk walking, yoga, taichi and qigong.

4. Abstain from alcohol, spicy ingredients, cold or raw food and red meat such as beef.

5.Sleep early and have enough rest so that your body can produce more qi and blood to nourish your skin.

6.Avoid any allergens, such as skincare products, hair dyes and seafood, that may have triggered your urticaria.

"Female seven and male eight" is a saying of Chinese medicine theory about the growth cycle of men and women in "Huangdi Neijing 黄帝内经". It means women undergo a significant physiological change every seven years, while men change every eight years. At these rhythm points, both men and women should pay attention to health maintenance in order to cope with changes in the body.

A girl’s kidney Qi begins to develop vigorously at age 7, her teeth begin to grow, hair becomes luxuriant. Menstruation appears as the Ren channel (sea of yin) 任脉 flows and the Chong channel (sea of blood) 太冲脉 becomes prosperous at the age of 14. Her Kidney Qi reaches a balanced state and teeth are completely developed at the age of 21. 21 to 28 years old is the age with the best physical condition for girl, especially around 28yrs, the kidney qi reaches its peak, which is the most suitable for childbearing. Clinical observations in obstetrics and gynecology have also found that the chances of conception are greatest between the ages of 26 and 30.

At 35yrs, woman's body starts to go downhill, Qi and blood of the Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming is depleted, her face withers and hair begins to fall. From 42yrs, the three Yang meridians passing through the face are all weak in Qi and blood, so the appearance gradually declines. Getting pregnant after the age of 42, both mother and fetus will face great risks. Around the age of 49, women's menstruation stops and menopause arrives. "Tiangui 天癸", which in charge of women's reproductive period for about thirty-five years, has completed its mission.

When a boy reaches 8 yrs, his kidney Qi begins to rise. When the kidney qi is full, the deciduous teeth are replaced, the permanent teeth grow, and hair becomes luxuriant. Men are fertile from the age of 16. "Tiangui" appears as semen for men. Essence in the kidney is sufficient and will be excreted. At this time, if the yin and yang intersect, the woman can conceive. At the age of 24, the man's physical condition reach optimal. Men are in best physical from 24 to 32yrs, and are most suitable for childbearing. For subsiquent development can refer to female growth patterns.🤗💕

Costochondritis (肋软骨炎) is a condition caused by inflammation of the cartilage that joins your ribs to the breastbone. Depending on the severity of the inflammation, it can range from mild discomfort to intensely painful. It is a common condition that may affect all ages.

Symptoms include sharp and stabbing pain at the chest wall and rib cage, worsening pain with exercise or activity, pain radiates to the shoulder and arms, pain when sneezing, coughing, or taking a deep breath.

In Chinese Medicine, the cause of costochondritis includes Blood Stasis with sharp pain, Damp Heat with a burning sensation, and Liver Blood Deficiency with continuous discomfort. Other than this, it can also be caused by Pericardium Blood Stagnation and Stomach Blood stagnation. The condition Pericardium Blood Stagnation is usually when there is also hypochondriac pain, palpitation, painful period and purplish tongue. Stomach Blood Stagnation symptoms are usually followed by nausea, vomiting with or without blood and epigastric pain.

The treatments for costochondritis are acupuncture and herbal medicine. Acupuncture is more commonly used to address Qi and Blood Stagnation; however herbal medicine should be supplemented if the case is more complex. The selection of acupoints and herbal medicine is based on the diagnosis from Chinese Medicine theories.

Although there are a few causes as stated earlier, the common organ that is affected is Liver. Liver Qi stagnation is a common condition in recent days. It is due to stress, anger and frustration can lead to liver qi stagnation. Pain at the chest and hypochondriac area may be due to poor circulation of Qi. Liver stores blood and maintains the smooth flow of Qi. Any disruptions may cause pain in the affected area or channel.

Reach out to us if you are suffering from costochondritis or hypochondriac pain. Our physician will consult and recommend the best treatment for you! 🤗

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, foods are categorized based on their temperature properties: hot, warm, neutral, cooling and cold. These categories are used to guide dietary choices and help maintain balance in the body. Each food’s temperature property influences the internal balance of Yin and Yang, also the flow of Qi (energy).

Hot foods, which are very Yang in nature, generate warmth and energy within the body. They are particularly beneficial for individuals with a cold constitution or those who experience symptoms related to insufficient warmth, such as low energy or poor circulation.

Hot foods are known for stimulating metabolism, invigorating blood circulation, and boosting energy. They help increase Yang energy, warm the interior, promote digestion, and alleviate conditions like cold hands and feet, sluggish digestion, or fatigue. The warming properties of these foods can restore internal heat and address imbalances in the body, particularly in individuals who feel cold, have low energy, or suffer from slow digestion.

There are several signs of imbalance that benefit from consuming hot foods. These include feeling cold, especially in the extremities, experiencing fatigue or low energy, and having a pale complexion due to poor circulation. Additionally, individuals who feel chilled after meals or struggle with slow digestion may find relief from hot foods. By providing warmth and stimulating circulation, hot foods can help improve these conditions and restore balance.

Examples of hot foods include: Spices such as chili peppers, ginger, garlic, onions, cinnamon, and mustard. Meats like lamb, venison, chicken and beef. Alcoholic beverages, particularly wine, spirits and coffee.

The best times to consume hot foods are during colder climates or seasons, or for individuals with a "cold" constitution or Yang deficiency. Hot foods are also helpful when digestive sluggishness, coldness, or fatigue are present. By incorporating these foods when needed, individuals can support the balance of Yin and Yang and enhance overall health. Understanding the role of hot foods can help individuals make informed dietary choices to maintain balance and health.
