“𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐥𝐥: 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐭” is the 2026 campaign theme for World Kidney Day. This theme highlights the importance of kidney health not only for individuals but also for building sustainable and resilient health systems. Preventing the progression of disease and promoting early care within the community can improve patient outcomes while also helping to reduce the impact on the environment.

Environmental factors such as air pollution and rising temperatures increase the risk of kidney disease. At the same time, treatments for advanced kidney disease such as dialysis, use a large amount of water, electricity, medical supplies and plastic waste. This means the environmental impact can be quite high when many patients require long-term treatment.

This World Kidney Day, start prioritise for your kidney health. Early screening and healthy habits can make a lifelong difference not only for you but also for the environment.
