The Prime Minister has announced an additional public holiday for Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026 to give Malaysians more time to travel and celebrate with family.

The extra holiday will fall on either 20 March or 23 March 2026, depending on the official date of Raya.
โ€ขโ  โ If Raya falls on 20 March 2026 (Friday) โ†’ 23 March 2026 (Monday) will be the additional holiday
โ€ขโ  โ If Raya falls on 21 March 2026 (Saturday) โ†’ 20 March 2026 (Friday) will be the additional holiday

As this holiday is declared under Section 8 of the Holidays Act 1951, it will be mandatory for all employers to observe, including the private sector.

Employers are encouraged to make the necessary arrangements ahead of time.
