Why Not All Practitioners are trained in Vision Development ?

Medical and health care practitioners achieve different levels of certification. First, they are licensed in their field. After that, they often choose a specific area to study in greater detail.

Many choose not to pursue additional studies because it is not required.

What does the title Fellow means to our patients?

When someone receives the title of “Fellow” it means they have undergone advanced training and rigorous testing to demonstrate their level of expertise in areas of vision development, binocular vision, visual information processing, and vision therapy.

A Fellow is the gold standard represents

the highest level of knowledge,
ethics and
patient care
in the following fields

visual information processing,
vision development,
phototherapy.
Fellows also serve as mentors and role models for other practitioners as well as the general public.

The title Fellow is a recognition of standards similar to Dr. (for doctors) , Ir (for engineers) Ar (for architects) for their professionalism in their respective fields.

Bryan used to need coloured and to read. Ever since he started vision therapy, his reading speed improved and he could do without the lens. After a 6-month break, Bryan returned for a follow up assessment and his vision has progressed tremendously that he does not need glasses for daily life anymore.

Vision therapy teaches you all the visual skills a person needs and will continue to develop after that.

Here's one of my patients who was referred by Dr Nathan Bonilla-Warford,Florida US Bright Eyes Family Vision Care

Emily's Mom wrote:

"We are very happy and appreciate that Dr # refer us to Dr Stanley in Malaysia. Before vision therapy, Emily used put an extreme amount of effort into reading. Emily would become fatigued after reading a few pages. Emily also struggled with following the words while reading, solving Mathematical problems and other near tasks.
Emily did not know her left from right side either. I remember the day after a VT session, Emily told me she now understood her body had a left and right side. Emily is also increasing her reading level and fluency.

I know she still has room to improve, but I can see how VT has given her more energy to put towards learning and exploring, not just the effort being used up in the mechanic of the reading task."

Before having vision therapy, Jia always commented by teachers that she was slow. She could not complete given task on time, e.g. could not finish copying from the board as required by teacher, read fluently and comprehend accurately the things that she had read.

Luckily, through the recommendation from one of her relatives, Jia's mum brought Jia to visit us for having a comprehensive visual evaluation. The evaluation revealed that Jia was undergoing struggles visually and also academically due to her visual dysfunction.

After having 15 weeks of the therapy in Sun Time Vision Specialist, Jia is finally proud to tell everybody she is one of our many vision therapy success stories. By having sufficient visual skills, she is no long being labelled as slow learner, she enjoys going to school and learning, she is a happy girl now ... Hurray!!!

Jia actually lives 6 hours away from Kuala Lumpur, but this constraint had not stopped her determination to change her life by vision therapy. We appreciate her and her mum’s trust and perseverance.
