Panic attacks: whatโ€™s happening in the body? ๐Ÿซจ

Panic attacks trigger a physical response in the body, causing rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, and intense fear. Understanding that panic is the body's natural reaction to stress can help you manage it better. Itโ€™s important to remember that while panic can feel overwhelming, itโ€™s temporary, and you have the power to regain control.

Learning how to ground yourself in the moment can help reduce the intensity of an attack.

If you experience panic attacks, practice grounding techniques or reach out to a professional.

Maternal mental health: you are not alone. ๐Ÿซ‚

Maternal mental health often goes unspoken, but itโ€™s crucial to acknowledge that new mothers may face emotional challenges. Itโ€™s normal to feel overwhelmed, and reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Support is vital, and no one should go through this journey alone.

Understanding that help is available can bring comfort and peace. Itโ€™s okay to ask for support and prioritise your well-being.

Reach out today, there is always support for you, and healing begins when you ask for help.

Supporting a loved one: what to say (and not say). ๐Ÿ’โ™€๏ธ

Supporting a loved one means offering the right words. Instead of minimising their feelings, focus on listening and being present. Simple phrases like โ€œIโ€™m here for youโ€ can be more comforting than trying to fix the situation. Knowing when to listen and when to offer help is key.

Support is about empathy and understanding, not offering solutions.

Reach out today, and let someone know theyโ€™re not alone in their journey.

Breaking the stigma around mental health in communities starts with understanding. ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Mental health struggles are often hidden behind fear and shame, but itโ€™s time to break the silence. Stigma prevents many from seeking help, but when communities come together to support mental well-being, we create safe spaces for healing. Understanding that mental health is just as important as physical health is the first step towards removing the barriers that keep people from reaching out.

By sharing stories, listening without judgment, and educating ourselves, we can create an environment where mental health is discussed openly and support is readily available. It's not just about raising awareness; it's about fostering empathy and changing the narrative around mental health.

Letโ€™s work together to break the stigma; it starts with one conversation at a time.

Mental wellbeing is built through consistent, everyday care. ๐Ÿšฟ

Recovery and emotional resilience are shaped by daily habits. Small, consistent actions, like prioritising rest, staying connected, and practising self-awareness, have a lasting impact on our mental health.

Itโ€™s not about perfection but consistency and compassion. Everyoneโ€™s journey is different, and creating sustainable wellbeing comes from routines that nourish both mind and body. Mental health is a lifelong process, not a one-time fix.

By investing in your mental health every day, you build long-term resilience to face lifeโ€™s challenges.

Choose one small habit today that supports your mental health and build from there.

Our Senior Clinical Psychologist, Dr. David Fernandez, is serving on the International Advisory Board for a major international study on Compulsive Sexual Behavior (CSB).

This study aims to set research priorities for CSB (also referred to as s*x addiction, hypers*xual disorder/hypers*xuality, s*xual compulsivity, s*xual impulsivity, or out-of-control s*xual behaviors) over the next 10 years. The goal is to inform the research community about the most striking and relevant questions in the field that should be addressed, while also guiding the development of improved policies, prevention strategies, early interventions, and treatments.

Access to early support is a crucial part of the healing process. ๐ŸŒฑ

Early support is vital for creating spaces where people feel safe to seek help. Advocacy is about ensuring people know help is available when they need it most.

Stigma and fear often prevent people from reaching out. By normalising mental health conversations, we replace shame with understanding.

True advocacy is about creating environments where help is sought without hesitation. Recovery is a journey that needs patience, understanding, and consistent support.

Start today by learning how to create a more supportive environment for others.

Knowledge empowers people to recognise when something isnโ€™t right. ๐Ÿ™‹

Therapy is not just for crises but a tool for ongoing self-awareness and growth. Many dismiss early signs of stress or emotional fatigue, but ignoring them can lead to bigger issues like burnout and anxiety.

Recognising these signs early allows individuals to respond with clarity, preventing emotional strain from escalating. Therapy helps people understand their emotional health and gain tools to manage lifeโ€™s stresses. The key is knowing when to seek help and how therapy can guide that journey.

Take the first step toward understanding your mind; it could change everything.

Recovery is a journey, and every story holds power. ๐Ÿ’ช

Recovery stories remind us that advocacy is about creating safe spaces where people can seek help. Stigma and fear often prevent early help-seeking, but normalising mental health conversations replaces shame with understanding.

True advocacy is about listening with compassion and recognising recovery as a journey, not a failure. These stories show that healing is possible, and embracing them empowers others to seek support.

Share your story or listen to others and together, we can change the narrative around recovery.

Adj. Prof. Dr. Prem Kumar Shanmugam, Founder of Solace Asia, was featured today in the South China Morning Post, sharing clinical insights on Malaysiaโ€™s proposed under-16 social media ban and its impact on impulse control, emotional regulation, and adolescent development.

With perspectives from students and other stakeholders, the article highlights why protecting young people online requires more than policy alone. Education, family involvement, responsible digital design, and mental health support must work together.

Recognising the signs early makes a world of difference. ๐Ÿง

Grounding techniques for feeling overwhelmed highlight the importance of understanding mental health beyond surface symptoms. Stress, burnout, and emotional fatigue often develop gradually, unnoticed, until they start interfering with daily life. Many brush off these signs, leading to pushing through struggles until they become overwhelming.

Without education, people ignore their emotional health, which can lead to burnout, anxiety, and other challenges. Recognising the early signs allows individuals to respond with clarity, rather than confusion, and create an environment that encourages care and timely intervention.

Take a moment today to learn the signs; early awareness can transform lives.

When we feel supported, our recovery journey becomes stronger. ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Community support, even just checking in with a friend, is key to creating environments where people feel safe to be honest. Stigma and silence can stop people from seeking help, but by normalising conversations around mental health, we replace shame with understanding and fear with hope.

Advocacy is about offering spaces where people can share struggles without fear of rejection, listening without judgement, and recognising that recovery is a journey. Recovery is not a failure, but a process that deserves patience and care.

Create space for others to speak up. Your support can make all the difference.
