The official opening of Northern Technocity’s main arterial road network on 25 October 2025 marked another significant milestone in the development’s growth and accessibility. Senai Airport City (SAC) marked another major milestone with the official opening of SHB Malaysia Automotive Appliance Sdn Bhd (SHB) first overseas manufacturing facility and its 40th anniversary, held at the Senai Airport City Free Zone, Johor Bahru.

With an investment of RM600 million manufacturing facility in SAC, SHB, a leading producer of wiper systems and seating motor systems is expanding its presence in Southeast Asian market representing its commitment to global expansion strategy. Once fully operational, it is expected to produce 3 million wiper motor systems and 20 million seat motors annually, generating up to RM1.5 billion in sales and an estimated RM6 billion sales by 2030. The SHB’s facility is equipped with advanced testing facilities and automated assembly lines, designed to support global OEM and Tier-1 clients, including Tesla, GM, BMW and VW.

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, has achieved another remarkable milestone by setting a new monthly highest record for its conventional cargo handling in September 2025. For its conventional cargo handling, Northport recorded a total throughput of 1,327,883 FWTs (Freight Weight Tonnes) in September 2025, surpassing its previous highest record of 1,277,409 FWTs set in October 2024. This new achievement underscores the continued strength and resilience of Northport’s conventional cargo operations amid evolving global and regional trade conditions.

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, successfully conducted a Tier 2 emergency drill exercise known as the Northport Management Exercise (NMEx) 2025. The exercise was designed to test Northport’s readiness in managing emergency situations and involved Northport’s Fire and Rescue Team, Port Auxiliary Police and the 40th Regiment of the Royal Army Engineers.

As the exercise escalated to a Tier 2 level, the exercise also required the involvement and close coordination with multiple Government agencies, including the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia, Marine Department of Malaysia, Chief Government Security Office (CGSO), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Port Klang Authority, Port Klang Marine Police, Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) and Department of Environment (DOE).

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, has been chosen by Tailwind Shipping Lines (Tailwind) as its Intra-Asia Regional Hub. A launch ceremony, graced by YB Tuan Loke Siew F**k, Minister of Transport Malaysia, was held at Northport on 9 October 2025.

With its focus on speed, reliability and schedule consistency, Tailwind has selected Northport as its Intra-Asia Regional Hub, underscoring the confidence it places in Port Klang, Malaysia’s leading gateway port. This development comes at a timely moment for Port Klang, which was recently ranked 10th in the Lloyd’s List 2025 Top 100 Ports, cementing its position among the world’s top ten busiest container ports for the first time.

Johor Port welcomed 25 delegates from the UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei (UNGCMYB) for a Peer Learning Visit. The delegation comprised representatives from various esteemed organisations, including Desaru Estate Sdn Bhd, KPJ Specialist Hospital, Petrosains Sdn Bhd, EcoCeres Renewable Fuels Sdn Bhd, Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd and Ranhill Utilities Berhad.

During the visit, Johor Port presented its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) journey and strategy, highlighting key initiatives driving its Sustainability Roadmap. Among the initiatives showcased were the Gate Automation System, Unmanned Weighbridge System, and other impactful ESG efforts led by dedicated teams.

Aliran Ihsan Resources Berhad (AIR Berhad) a member of MMC Group, conducted a two-day clean-up initiative at the Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) Water Treatment Plant. The initiative featured key tasks such as desludging, cleaning operations and maintenance of the surrounding areas to enhance safety and cleanliness.

Beyond improving the facility’s environment, this programme also provided staff with valuable, hands-on exposure to plant operations, strengthening teamwork, collaboration, and a sense of shared responsibility.
