We are getting ready to launch the very first 𝐏𝐄𝐄𝐑𝐒® 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 social skills group here in Kuching in mid-January 2026. We are excited to welcome several families with 𝟏𝟏- 𝐭𝐨 𝟏𝟐-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫-𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 who have decided to join us on this journey.

To ensure every teen gets the attention they need, we keep our group small. We have just a few spaces left for families looking for evidence-based social skills support.

📢 We’re excited to share that 𝟐𝟎𝐝𝐁 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐞 is offering the PEERS® for Adolescents social skills group, an evidence-based program designed to help teens with Autism Spectrum Disorder, mental health difficulties, and other social challenges build and maintain friendships. The program will be conducted by our licensed counsellor and certified PEERS provider.

✅ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐏𝐄𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬?
• PEERS for Adolescents is an evidence-based social skills program for adolescents aged 11-18, who are interested in making and keeping friends and/or handling conflict, rejection and bullying.
• Adolescents and parents attend 16 weekly group sessions for 90 minutes per week.
• Participants are taught social skills through didactic lessons and role-play demonstrations and practice these skills during group socialization activities.

✅ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬?
• Teens experience friendship problems
• Teens in secondary school
• Teens must agree to participate in the program voluntarily
• Teens must consistently attend the program
• Parent must be willing to participate

What an incredible energy we had on December 5th! 🌟

Our audiologist and counsellor, Dr. Lim Re Gal, spent the day with a group of audiologists from all over Malaysia for our workshop, "Counselling in Audiology: Beyond the Audiogram."

We explored the vital shift from Informational Counselling (explaining the science) to Personal Adjustment Counselling—the key to helping clients feel truly heard, validated, and connected.

The highlight of the session was diving into 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐌𝐈). We learned that the best way to help a client isn't to be the "expert" with all the answers, but to be a partner who guides them.

We broke down the 𝐑.𝐔.𝐋.𝐄. of engaging with clients:
🛑 𝐑esist the urge to "fix" everything immediately (The Righting Reflex).
💡 𝐔nderstand the client's own motivation for change.
👂 𝐋isten with empathy and without judgment.
💪 𝐄mpower the client to believe in their own success.

We also mapped out the 4 Core Processes of MI, which guide the client toward change:
1️⃣ 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠: Building trust and making the client feel safe.
2️⃣ 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠: Agreeing on a specific agenda for the conversation.
3️⃣ 𝐄𝐯𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠: The heart of MI—drawing out the client's own "why" for change.
4️⃣ 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: Formulating a concrete action plan when they are ready.
