PCOS adalah masalah gangguan hormon yang sering berlaku dalam golongan wanita lingkungan umur 20-45 tahun. Wanita yang menghidapi masalah PCOS kebiasaannya mengalami gangguan haid otau penghasilan hormon androgen yang berlebihan.

Pengeluaran o**m gagal berlaku disebabkan oleh hormon yang tidak stabil dan akan menyumbang kepada simptom kemandulan.

Penyebab utama PCOS adalah tidak diketahui. Namun begitu, diagnosis dan rawatan awal bersama dengan penurunan berat badan, dapat mengurangkan risiko komplikasi jangka panjang seperti kencing manis dan sakit jantung.

Tanda-tanda awal PCOS sering dialami semasa akil baligh. Namun, simptom PCOS boleh terjadi dalam kalangan wanita muda, sekadar dengan penambahan berat badan yang mendadak.

Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age. Women with PCOS may have infrequent or prolonged menstrual periods or excess male hormone (androgen) levels. The ovaries may develop many small collections of fluid (follicles) and fail to regularly release eggs.

The exact cause of PCOS is unknown. Early diagnosis and treatment along with weight loss may reduce the risk of long-term complications such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Signs and symptoms of PCOS often develop around the time of the first menstrual period during puberty. Sometimes PCOS develops later, for example, in response to substantial weight gain.
