“I didn’t want to come today because I thought it would be the same old story.”

Today’s clinic visit was a powerful reminder that every patient is a person, not a protocol. My patient is a 168kg BIG GUY with multiple comorbids, who plans to undergo bariatric surgery. His wife told me honestly: he didn't want to be see dietitian. He had seen many dietitians before and felt he always got the same "healthy plate" lecture—advice that, for him, didn't feel useful or sustainable.

After a long, deep dive into a personalized management plan tailored specifically to his life and his struggles, he stopped and confessed something that made my day: “I’m surprised. This is so different from what I’ve been told before.”

There is no better feeling than turning a “forced” appointment into a spark of hope. Grateful for the trust patients place in me.

My geriatric patient had her first tattoo 6-7 years ago, and she's 80 years old now. Wow... that's a lot of courage to get the tattoo in her 70s.

Throwback ~ Diabetes Malaysia Conference 2025, on 1st to 3rd August 2025.

I can't recall how many times I have been on the organizing committee for this conference, but I'm happy to be part of it to make it a great success.

This round, I took up the challenge to be the emcee of the opening ceremony, emceeing in between the sessions, as well as chairing one of the symposiums with other dietitian speakers.

Conferences are always a place to meet new and old friends, to connect with each other, to learn new experiences and knowledge... looking forward to the next conference!

Starting soon after chemotherapy, workouts like brisk walking for 45-60 minutes, 3-4 times a week, led to an 80% cancer-free rate after five years, compared to 74% for those who didn't exercise. This research highlights the powerful impact of physical activity on recovery and could change future cancer treatment.

Risk of dying was cut by a third after colon cancer patients dialled up exercise levels.
