Gem Helpline (formerly known as BGFCU Helpline) launched our helpline service in 1992 to provide EMOTIONAL SUPPORT SERVICE to individuals in need. It was also intended to provide information and referral services so that the needs of the callers could be dealt by the most competent resource. Our Vision: A community where people are empowered to take charge of their own mental well-being. Our Mission: Empowering the community to achieve positive mental well-being through emotional support & outreach programs. Our Values :

We organize public talk on emotional wellbeing on regular basis. In addition, the follow activities are carried out annually:
- Workshop
- Counseling Course (upon completion, one can apply for further training to be our helpline helper)
- Marriage Education Program
- Mindful Parenting Workshop

Disclaimer: Our Counseling Course is NOT INTENDED to be a form of counselling or psychotherapy, or to enable participants to practise as a registered counsellor. The Course teaches only basic skills to help yourself, your family and your friends.

Mental health is important because it affects how we think, act, and interact with others, and it can impact our overall well-being.
If you have good mental health, you might feel happy, confident, hopeful and generally satisfied with life. You are likely to feel connected to other people and to be making a contribution to society. You might also have a sense of meaning or purpose and a feeling of being at peace.
Mental health awareness is about recognizing the importance of mental well-being and creating an environment where people can openly discuss their symptoms, understand what they are feeling and seek help for mental health issues.
Because of misconceptions and stigma surrounding mental health issues, people often suffer in silence and don't seek treatment for their conditions.
With awareness, people feel more comfortable seeking help and support, thus contributing to early intervention and better mental health outcomes. It will also create a culture of compassion and support.
